  • Overview
  • We are seeking a hands-on SQL Server to Snowflake Migration Consultant to support the final phase of a critical enterprise data-platform migration. The primary focus will be converting existing Microsoft SQL Server workloads to Snowflake, troubleshooting migration issues, validating data and results, and reducing technical and delivery risk.
  • This is an execution-focused role, not an advisory-only Snowflake position. The successful candidate must be able to independently analyze existing SQL Server queries, understand underlying business and data logic, convert workloads appropriately for Snowflake, troubleshoot platform differences, and validate that migrated workloads produce expected results.
  • The consultant will also support ETL pipelines, Snowflake performance tuning, data reconciliation, reporting/dashboard validation, and knowledge transfer. Priorities may shift between query conversion, troubleshooting, data validation, pipeline support, reporting validation, and production migration issues.
  • Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze and convert existing Microsoft SQL Server/T-SQL queries and workloads into accurate, efficient, and supportable Snowflake SQL.
  • Preserve business and data logic while addressing differences in SQL syntax, functions, data types, query behavior, and platform capabilities.
  • Troubleshoot SQL conversion failures and migration issues through resolution.
  • Review migration backlogs, identify high-priority/high-risk workloads, and execute against dependencies and business priorities.
  • Compare SQL Server and Snowflake results to validate migrated data, calculations, record counts, transformations, and business outcomes.
  • Investigate and resolve data reconciliation discrepancies across source data, SQL logic, transformations, and downstream dependencies.
  • Troubleshoot ETL pipelines, transformation issues, sequencing problems, and migration dependencies.
  • Support Azure Data Factory pipelines and related dependencies where applicable.
  • Analyze and optimize Snowflake query/workload performance without compromising data accuracy or business logic.
  • Validate downstream reporting and dashboards, including Power BI where applicable.
  • Document conversion patterns, technical decisions, troubleshooting findings, and lessons learned.
  • Transfer knowledge to internal data team members to improve long-term supportability.
  • Collaborate with data engineering, reporting, and other technical teams to resolve cross-functional migration issues.
  • Support final technical validation and production readiness of migrated workloads.
  • Evaluate and safely incorporate AI/automation tools to accelerate SQL conversion, analysis, reconciliation, testing, documentation, and performance optimization where organizational policies permit.
  • Independently review, execute, test, and validate any AI-assisted SQL before it is accepted for migration use.
  • Required Qualifications
  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL development and troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with Snowflake, including SQL development, migration
