About The Role

Roers Companies is seeking an energetic and dedicated Data Engineer to join our dynamic team. This in-office role requires candidates to reside near Plymouth, MN, Phoenix, AZ, Austin, TX, or Tampa, FL. The primary responsibility of the Data Engineer is to design, develop, and maintain the company's Enterprise Data Warehouse, ensuring robust data integration and business intelligence capabilities. The successful candidate will serve as the technical expert in enterprise data management, modeling, and Power BI administration, working closely with various departments including Property Management, Finance, Development, Construction, and Corporate Services. The role involves transforming complex business requirements into scalable data solutions, developing efficient ETL/ELT processes, and establishing data governance standards to ensure data quality, security, and usability. This position offers a unique opportunity to influence strategic decision-making through innovative data initiatives and to work within a collaborative environment that values integrity, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Management Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field (preferred)
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in data engineering, business intelligence, analytics, or database development
  • Proven experience developing Power BI datasets, semantic models, dashboards, and reporting solutions
  • Hands-on experience building ETL/ELT solutions utilizing SQL Server and related Microsoft data technologies
  • Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate (PL-300) and Azure Data Engineer Associate (DP-203) are a plus
  • Strong knowledge of data warehousing concepts, data modeling, and semantic layer design
  • Proficiency in SQL development, data integration, and data pipeline management
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Knowledge of data governance, security protocols, and quality management practices

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain logical and physical data models to support enterprise reporting and analytics
  • Manage and enhance the architecture of the Enterprise Data Warehouse, ensuring scalability and performance
  • Develop scalable data solutions integrating property management systems, financial applications, and other platforms
  • Implement data modeling strategies to improve data consistency, reporting performance, and usability
  • Establish and enforce data standards, naming conventions, and documentation practices for maintainability
  • Monitor data quality, troubleshoot data integrity issues, and implement corrective actions
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize Power BI semantic models, datasets, and reports to meet enterprise needs
  • Create efficient DAX calculations, measures, and relationships to enhance report performance
  • Design and implement Power BI governance standards, security protocols, and development best practices
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand reporting needs and translate them into scalable data solutions
  • Support users with dashboards, reporting tools, and data interpretation, promoting best practices in data governance
  • Identify opportunities for process automation, enhanced reporting, and leveraging emerging technologies for continuous improvement
