Together, we thrive as we shape the future of health for patients, our communities, and our people. If you want to be part of tomorrow's health today, we want to hear from you.

About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Engineer to join our dynamic team at McKesson. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable, high-performance data pipelines and platforms that support our healthcare data initiatives. This role offers the opportunity to work remotely from any location within the United States, providing flexibility and the chance to contribute to impactful projects that influence healthcare delivery and patient outcomes.

The Data Engineer will analyze business and technical requirements to develop end-to-end data solutions, including data ingestion, transformation, modeling, and data serving layers. You will lead the design and implementation of complex ETL/ELT workflows, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and cost efficiency. Additionally, the role involves implementing advanced Delta Lake features such as schema enforcement, schema evolution, and data versioning, all critical to maintaining high data quality and integrity.

Collaboration is key in this position. You will work closely with Product teams, QA, and upstream system owners to define data contracts, SLAs, and ensure timely and reliable data delivery. Troubleshooting complex data issues related to distributed processing, increasing data volumes, latency challenges, and upstream system changes will be part of your responsibilities. You will also enforce data governance, security, and compliance standards within Databricks, including access controls and cataloging solutions. Your expertise will contribute to design and code reviews, systemic issue identification, and continuous improvement initiatives. Mentoring junior engineers and sharing knowledge within the team will be encouraged to foster a culture of learning and excellence.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, along with at least five (5) years of relevant experience in data engineering or a similar role.

Applicants must demonstrate at least two (2) years of hands-on experience in each of the following areas:

  • SQL for debugging and resolving application-related issues
  • Java for building new applications and enhancing existing ones
  • Python for developing and improving data processing workflows
  • MySQL for writing queries to investigate and resolve data issues
  • Databricks for building and maintaining scalable data pipelines
  • Amazon S3 for managing data storage, retrieval, and integration
  • GitLab for version control and collaboration on code development
  • API calls for integrating external services and troubleshooting data flow
  • Katalon for automating application testing and validation across environments

Strong analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and a proactive approach to troubleshooting are essential. Familiarity with data governance, security protocols, and compliance standards within cloud and enterprise environments is preferred.
