## About the Role
Runpod is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design and implement robust data solutions that support scalable analytics and data-driven decision-making across the organization.
The role will focus on building and maintaining the data infrastructure that powers analytics and business operations. You will work closely with Engineering, Analytics, Finance, Data Science, Machine Learning, Business Intelligence, and Security teams to develop an efficient, scalable, and secure data ecosystem.
Runpod uses technologies including Dagster and dbt to orchestrate data pipelines and manage workflows across systems such as PlanetScale, Tinybird, and Snowflake.
### Key Responsibilities
- * Lead the design and development of robust data pipelines for ingesting, aggregating, and indexing diverse data sources into the data warehouse.
- * Drive the development of a scalable data warehousing platform that meets SOC 2 security and compliance requirements.
- * Partner with data analytics teams to ensure the data platform supports accurate reporting and analysis of key business metrics.
- * Collaborate with Data Science and Machine Learning teams to build scalable capabilities for generating insights and leveraging Large Language Models.
- * Work closely with Backend Engineering, Business Intelligence, Security, Analytics, and Machine Learning teams to connect technical solutions with business needs.
- * Mentor and coach data engineers, providing constructive feedback and supporting professional development.
- * Independently drive data engineering projects from planning through implementation.
- * Help improve the scalability, reliability, efficiency, and security of the organization's data ecosystem.
### Required Qualifications
- * 4+ years of experience architecting and implementing large-scale enterprise data solutions.
- * 2+ years of experience working with modern data platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, or Redshift.
- * Strong understanding of modern data warehouse architecture and principles.
- * 2+ years of experience designing and optimizing high-volume, real-time, and batch ETL pipelines.
- * 1+ year of experience coaching or mentoring team members.
- * Experience working effectively in startup environments with a proactive, ownership-oriented approach.
- * Strong oral and written communication skills.
- * Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and independently drive projects forward.
- * Ability to connect technical data solutions with broader business requirements.
- * Advanced degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent relevant industry experience.
### Preferred Experience
- * Experience working with data orchestration and transformation technologies such as Dagster and dbt.
- * Experience supporting analytics, business intelligence, data science, or machine learning teams.
- * Familiarity with LLM-related data and insight-generation capabilities.
- * Experience working in environments with security and compliance requirements such as SOC 2.
### Compensation and Benefits
- * Base salary range of $175,000–$220,000 per year.
