About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance data pipelines and platforms that support critical business operations and analytics. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, quality assurance, and system owners, to deliver reliable and efficient data solutions that meet organizational needs.

Remote work flexibility is a key aspect of this role, with 100% telecommuting allowed from any location within the United States. The position involves analyzing complex business and technical requirements, leading the development of end-to-end data workflows, and implementing advanced data management capabilities using cutting-edge technologies like Delta Lake and Databricks. The Data Engineer will also play a vital role in ensuring data governance, security, and compliance standards are upheld, contributing to the overall integrity and quality of our data assets.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, along with at least five (5) years of relevant experience. Demonstrated expertise in the following areas is required:

  • Two (2) years of experience in SQL for debugging and resolving application-related issues.
  • Two (2) years of experience in Java for building and enhancing applications.
  • Two (2) years of experience in Python for developing and improving data processing workflows.
  • Two (2) years of experience with MySQL for querying and troubleshooting data issues.
  • Two (2) years of experience with Databricks for building scalable data pipelines and analytics.
  • Experience managing data storage and retrieval using Amazon S3.
  • Proficiency with GitLab for version control and collaborative development.
  • Experience integrating external services via API calls and troubleshooting data flow issues.
  • Knowledge of automation testing tools such as Katalon to validate application functionality.

Additional skills in data governance, security, and compliance are highly desirable, along with strong problem-solving and communication abilities.

Responsibilities

The Data Engineer will be responsible for a broad range of activities, including but not limited to:

  • Designing, developing, and maintaining scalable, high-performance data pipelines and platforms that support enterprise data needs.
  • Analyzing business and technical requirements to create end-to-end data solutions, including data ingestion, transformation, modeling, and serving layers.
  • Leading the design and implementation of complex ETL/ELT workflows, optimizing for performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.
  • Implementing advanced Delta Lake features such as schema enforcement, schema evolution, and data versioning to ensure data integrity.
  • Collaborating closely with product teams, QA, and upstream system owners to define data contracts, SLAs, and ensure timely data delivery.
  • Debugging complex data issues involving distributed processing, increasing data volumes, latency challenges, and upstream system modifications.
  • Enforcing data governance, security, and compliance standards within Databricks, including access control and cataloging solutions.
  • Participating in code reviews, identifying systemic issues, and proposing improvements to data pipelines, orchestration, deployment, and observability processes.
  • Mentoring junior engineers, sharing best practices, and contributing to team knowledge sharing initiatives.

This role requires proactive problem-solving, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
