About The Role

The Principal Data Engineer at Continuus Technologies LLC is a senior leadership role that demands a strategic and technical visionary responsible for shaping the company's data architecture and engineering practices. This position involves defining the long-term technical strategy for data platforms, ensuring they are scalable, resilient, and aligned with business objectives. The role requires a deep understanding of data systems, architecture, and best practices, as well as the ability to influence cross-functional teams and executive leadership. The Principal Data Engineer will serve as a key technical authority, mentoring senior engineers, leading complex initiatives, and setting standards that promote engineering excellence across the organization. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in designing and operating large-scale data platforms, with a proven ability to solve intricate data engineering challenges and drive innovation in data practices.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. They should have over 10 years of professional experience in data engineering or related disciplines, demonstrating a strong track record of designing, implementing, and maintaining large-scale data platforms. Expertise in SQL and proficiency in programming languages such as Python or similar is essential. Candidates should have deep experience with data warehousing, data lakes, and distributed systems, along with a solid understanding of data modeling, reliability, observability, and governance. Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, as well as familiarity with streaming and real-time systems like Kafka, Spark, or Flink, is highly preferred. Additional experience supporting ML, AI, or product-led data platforms, along with knowledge of data security, compliance, and influencing technical direction without direct managerial authority, will be advantageous.

They will influence tool selection and technology adoption across the data stack, mentor staff and senior data engineers, and partner with leadership to ensure data strategies support organizational growth. Additionally, the role requires staying abreast of emerging technologies, advocating for best practices in data security and compliance, and supporting innovative initiatives that leverage data for business advantage.
