SCADA Data Analyst
Remote 25% - 30% travel

Work on behalf of one of the world s largest renewable energy developers and builders as a SCADA Data Analyst, supporting the development and implementation of innovative AI and intelligent solutions for utility-scale renewable energy projects.
Position Overview
The Data Analyst (Owner s Representative) will support the development, integration, commissioning, and optimization of data-driven solutions across renewable energy facilities, including Solar PV and Energy Storage Systems (ESS/BESS).
This role combines SCADA, data analytics, data engineering, and emerging AI technologies to improve plant performance, optimize internal processes, and develop minimum viable products (MVPs) for intelligent renewable energy applications.
The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in data analytics or data science, along with hands-on technical experience working with SCADA systems, renewable power plant data, databases, data pipelines, and software development. The ability to work effectively with engineering, IT, commissioning, and vendor teams is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as an Owner s Representative supporting SCADA data analytics, integration, commissioning, startup, testing, and optimization activities for renewable energy projects.
- Analyze SCADA and operational data from utility-scale Solar PV and Energy Storage Systems to identify trends, anomalies, performance opportunities, and actionable insights.
- Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines, ETL processes, and data integration solutions supporting SCADA and AI initiatives.
- Ensure data quality, accuracy, integrity, and availability across multiple sources and platforms.
- Develop and implement analytical models and basic machine learning solutions to support renewable energy operations and intelligent automation initiatives.
- Perform data analysis and visualization to support project teams, operational decisions, and management reporting.
- Conduct experiments, testing, and validation activities to evaluate model performance and continuously improve analytical solutions.
- Collaborate with IT and engineering teams to integrate data and AI solutions into existing enterprise and plant infrastructure.
- Support the development of interactive dashboards, web applications, and visualization tools for AI-driven solutions and SCADA data.
- Integrate front-end applications with back-end services, databases, APIs, and other data sources.
- Work collaboratively with internal engineering, IT, commissioning, operations, and supplier teams to establish project priorities, milestones, schedules, and work plans.
- Review SCADA and power plant engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Support SCADA equipment commissioning, startup, testing, and troubleshooting at Solar PV and Energy Storage facilities.
- Plan and coordinate work activities with vendors and suppliers to achieve project and portfolio deliverables.
- Prepare and communicate daily, weekly, and monthly project status reports for project leadership and management.
- Manage assigned requirements and deliverables while maintaining project schedules and meeting established milestones.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Experience in data analytics, data engineering, or data science, preferably within the renewable energy or power generation industry.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
- Experience working with SCADA, operational technology, or renewable power plant data.
- Proficiency in Python, R, Scala, or similar programming languages for data analysis and automation.
- Strong SQL skills and experience working with SQL and/or NoSQL databases.
- Experience developing data pipelines, ETL processes, or data integration solutions.
- Ability to work effectively with technical teams, engineering disciplines, vendors, and senior stakeholders.
- Willingness and ability to travel approximately 30%, including travel to renewable energy project sites.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with data processing and distributed computing technologies such as Apache Spark, Hadoop, or Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with front-end technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, or Angular.
- Experience working with RESTful APIs and web services.
- Knowledge of AI and machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-learn.
- Experience developing data visualization dashboards or interactive web applications.
- Experience with utility-scale Solar PV, BESS/ESS, SCADA, plant controls, or power plant communications.
- Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, SCADA architecture diagrams, and technical specifications.
- Experience supporting SCADA commissioning, startup, testing, or integration activities.
- Experience working as an Owner s Representative or directly with EPC contractors, OEMs, integrators, and technology vendors.
Physical Requirements / Working Environment
- Ability to work at a desk and in front of a computer monitor for extended periods.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while working at project sites.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle when traveling between work locations or project sites.
- Ability to travel approximately 25-30%, including travel to renewable energy facilities and construction/commissioning sites.
- Ability to work in both office and field environments, including outdoor project sites and varying weather conditions.
