Senior Business Analyst, Fixed Income - Hybrid - Baltimore, MD

About the Position / Current Initiatives:

Optomi, in partnership with a leader in the Investment Banking industry, is looking for a Senior Business Analyst with extensive experience gathering requirements among business stakeholders, with proficiency in documentation, workflows, and capabilities mapping. This role involves conducting discovery and documenting the current state of business processes within the high yield business unit. Following the retirement of a key employee, the team is working through several loose ends and processes that were previously supported by institutional knowledge.

• The Senior Business Analyst will interview key stakeholders, map and document business workflows, identify gaps and manual processes, and compile a comprehensive book of work. Key areas of focus may include performance, attribution, and client reporting processes.
• The goal is to provide greater visibility into how the business operates and help identify opportunities to align existing processes with available technology solutions across the broader organization.

Job Must Haves:

• 5+ years of Business Analysis experience
• Fixed income asset management experience
• Strong business process mapping and documentation experience
• Experience conducting stakeholder interviews and discovery sessions
• Ability to gather, organize, and document business requirements
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Experience identifying gaps, manual processes, dependencies, and areas lacking clear process ownership

Job Nice to Haves:

• Experience supporting high yield or distressed debt businesses
• Experience with investment performance, attribution, and/or client reporting processes
• Experience with process improvement or business transformation initiatives
• Experience with Bloomberg or Aladdin
• Familiarity with SQL or advanced Excel
• Experience with diagramming and workflow mapping tools
• Exposure to Agile methodologies

About the Team Structure + Culture:

• The high yield team has historically operated somewhat independently from the broader technology organization. There is an opportunity to better connect the team's existing processes with technology capabilities already available elsewhere in the organization.
• The team is currently working to address loose ends and knowledge gaps following the retirement of a key employee. This engagement requires someone who can independently conduct discovery, build credibility with stakeholders, bring structure to an ambiguous environment, and clearly document their findings.
