- SIS Functional Analyst — Contract (1099), Remote

- About the Role
- Core Education is seeking an experienced SIS Functional Analyst to join us on a 1099 contract basis, working 15–20 hours per week with availability required during standard business hours, Monday through Friday. This is a remote, part-time engagement ideal for a higher-ed technology professional looking for flexible, meaningful contract work.
- As the primary liaison between institutional stakeholders and our Student Information System (SIS), you'll ensure the platform effectively supports academic, financial, admissions, and administrative operations — combining functional higher-ed knowledge with SIS technical expertise.
- What You'll Do
- SIS Administration & Configuration
- Serve as the functional expert for our SIS (Thesis Elements), managing configuration, workflows, and business rules
- Partner with Registrar, Financial Aid, Business Office, Admissions, and Academic Affairs to gather requirements and translate them into SIS solutions
- Troubleshoot system issues, coordinate with vendor support, and manage upgrades, patches, and testing cycles
- Maintain data integrity across integrated systems
- Business Process & Institutional Support
- Analyze and document higher-ed business processes (enrollment, registration, financial aid, records, billing) and recommend SIS-driven improvements
- Support cross-functional projects and third-party integrations (financial aid platforms, CRM, LMS)
- Develop and maintain configuration guides, workflows, and training materials
- Reporting & Business Intelligence
- Design and maintain reports/dashboards using Power BI and/or native SIS tools
- Partner with departments to define reporting requirements
- Support migration of legacy reporting to standardized, sustainable solutions
- Innovation & Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to apply AI tools and automation to SIS-related workflows and reporting
- Pilot and evaluate emerging technologies to improve operational efficiency
- Training & Support
- Provide training and ongoing support to SIS users across departments
- Develop end-user documentation and job aids
- What You Bring
- Minimum 3 years of experience in or supporting higher education administrative operations
- Hands-on functional experience with a Student Information System such as Ellucian Colleague, Ellucian Banner, Thesis Elements, or Jenzabar
- Strong understanding of core higher-ed business processes (registration, financial aid, billing, academic records, admissions)
- Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into system solutions
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills
- Excellent communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders alike
- Nice to Have
- Experience using AI tools or automation platforms to streamline administrative workflows
- Experience with Thesis Elements specifically
- Power BI or similar BI/reporting tool experience
- Experience with SIS integrations to third-party platforms (e.g., PowerFAIDS, CRM systems)
- Prior experience at a faith-based or private higher education institution
- Project management experience or certification
- Engagement Details
- Classification: Independent Contractor (1099)
- Commitment: 15–20 hours/week
- Pay Rate: $50-$60
- Schedule: Availability required during business hours, Monday–Friday
- Location: Remote
- Reports To: Director of Enterprise Systems (functional relationship for this engagement)
