  • Core Education is seeking an experienced SIS Functional Analyst to join us on a 1099 contract basis, working 15–20 hours per week with availability required during standard business hours, Monday through Friday. This is a remote, part-time engagement ideal for a higher-ed technology professional looking for flexible, meaningful contract work.
  • As the primary liaison between institutional stakeholders and our Student Information System (SIS), you'll ensure the platform effectively supports academic, financial, admissions, and administrative operations — combining functional higher-ed knowledge with SIS technical expertise.
  • What You'll Do
  • SIS Administration & Configuration
  • Serve as the functional expert for our SIS (Thesis Elements), managing configuration, workflows, and business rules
  • Partner with Registrar, Financial Aid, Business Office, Admissions, and Academic Affairs to gather requirements and translate them into SIS solutions
  • Troubleshoot system issues, coordinate with vendor support, and manage upgrades, patches, and testing cycles
  • Maintain data integrity across integrated systems
  • Business Process & Institutional Support
  • Analyze and document higher-ed business processes (enrollment, registration, financial aid, records, billing) and recommend SIS-driven improvements
  • Support cross-functional projects and third-party integrations (financial aid platforms, CRM, LMS)
  • Develop and maintain configuration guides, workflows, and training materials
  • Reporting & Business Intelligence
  • Design and maintain reports/dashboards using Power BI and/or native SIS tools
  • Partner with departments to define reporting requirements
  • Support migration of legacy reporting to standardized, sustainable solutions
  • Innovation & Process Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to apply AI tools and automation to SIS-related workflows and reporting
  • Pilot and evaluate emerging technologies to improve operational efficiency
  • Training & Support
  • Provide training and ongoing support to SIS users across departments
  • Develop end-user documentation and job aids
  • What You Bring
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in or supporting higher education administrative operations
  • Hands-on functional experience with a Student Information System such as Ellucian Colleague, Ellucian Banner, Thesis Elements, or Jenzabar
  • Strong understanding of core higher-ed business processes (registration, financial aid, billing, academic records, admissions)
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into system solutions
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills
  • Excellent communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders alike
  • Nice to Have
  • Experience using AI tools or automation platforms to streamline administrative workflows
  • Experience with Thesis Elements specifically
  • Power BI or similar BI/reporting tool experience
  • Experience with SIS integrations to third-party platforms (e.g., PowerFAIDS, CRM systems)
  • Prior experience at a faith-based or private higher education institution
  • Project management experience or certification
  • Engagement Details
  • Classification: Independent Contractor (1099)
  • Commitment: 15–20 hours/week
  • Pay Rate: $50-$60
  • Schedule: Availability required during business hours, Monday–Friday
  • Location: Remote
  • Reports To: Director of Enterprise Systems (functional relationship for this engagement)
