Senior Financial Analyst

• Job Title: Senior Financial Analyst – Government of Alberta (GOA)
• Unit: Public Safety and Emergency Services
• Duration: 12+ Months + 18-Month Extension
• Location: Edmonton, AB (Remote)
• We are seeking a Senior Financial Analyst with a strong technical accounting background to support the Government of Alberta – Public Safety and Emergency Services Unit in a complex public-sector environment. This role requires hands-on financial analysis, reconciliation, reporting, and compliance support.
• Key Responsibilities:
• Perform complex account reconciliations, financial analysis, and journal entries.
• Support month-end, year-end, and audit activities.
• Analyze financial data, identify risks, and recommend process improvements.
• Provide technical advice on accounting standards, policies, and legislation.
• Work with ERP systems and advanced Excel tools (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP).

Must-Have Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience using accounting principles and standards.
• 5+ years of advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP).
• 4+ years of data analysis, financial reporting, and SharePoint Online experience.
• Relevant post-secondary education in business, accounting, or finance.

Nice-to-Have:

• CPA designation preferred.
• Experience with SAP or other ERP systems.
• Experience in audit, financial controls, or ERP implementation projects.
• 3+ years in accounting systems, budgeting, and internal controls.
• Additional Requirements:
• Must be a local candidate (Edmonton, AB area).
• Must complete mandatory training (FOIP, Cybersecurity, etc.).
• Contractor must provide own equipment (Windows preferred).
