Senior Financial Analyst

Location: 22 St. Clair Avenue East, Toronto, Ontario

Work model: Minimum 4 days in the office per week

Role Overview

The Senior Financial Analyst plays a key role on the Financial Reporting team, supporting the delivery of accurate and timely internal and external financial reporting for George Weston Limited. This role is responsible for contributing to period-end and quarter-end close, financial consolidation, reporting processes, systems administration, budgeting support, and select accounts payable activities. The successful candidate will provide high-quality analysis and reporting to support senior management and Board reporting, while also identifying opportunities to improve processes, controls, and reporting efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Support the periodic and quarterly close process, including preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting documentation
  • Contribute to the consolidation of financial results across business units
  • Prepare analysis of financial results, including variance analysis and insightful commentary for senior management
  • Develop and maintain reports to support both internal and external reporting requirements
  • Prepare quarterly consolidated reporting packages
  • Prepare legal entity financial statements
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual shareholder reporting, including financial statements, MD&A, and note disclosures

Budgeting

Support the annual budgeting process, forecasts, and multi-year financial plans

Systems

  • Manage trial balance uploads and maintain data integrity within financial systems
  • Assist with testing and implementation of system upgrades
  • Maintain chart of accounts and financial mapping structures
  • Develop and enhance financial reports as required by stakeholders
  • Maintain and update system documentation, including user guides and administrator manuals
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement through automation and AI-enabled solutions

Accounts Payable

Support the processing and review of vendor invoices and weekly payment runs

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2-4 years of relevant experience in accounting, financial reporting, or related roles
  • Post-secondary degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance
  • CPA designation or progress toward CPA designation
  • High attention to detail with a strong focus on accuracy and quality
  • Experience with financial systems such as Microsoft Dynamics 365, SAP, FCCS, and SmartView is an asset
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; experience using AI-enabled productivity tools is an asset
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams

Hiring Range: Base salary of $85-95, 000 per year, plus applicable bonus.
