Position Title: Senior Director of Advancement Operations and Data Analysis

Position Classification: Regular; Exempt; Full-Time; 40 hours/week

Reports to: Managing Director, Advancement Strategy and Operations

Location: Employees in this role can work from our Boston, MA office, remotely within the U.S. or a hybrid of these two options ; 1 0-15 % travel, domestic and international

Position Overview

The Senior Director, Advancement Operations and Data Analysis provides leadership for business operations , data, and operational infrastructure of the Resource Generation Branch (RGB) . This role oversees three core functional areas — Gift Administration , Prospect Management and Research, and Data Operations and Analysis —serving as a throughline that integrates people, processes, systems, and data . The Senior Director ensures that the se functions operate as a cohesive, standardized, and data-centric ecosystem , combining deep expertise in both fundraising and data analysis , ensuring that fundraising leaders have the insights to inform strategy and measure their results. This position serves as the non-technical business owner for systems and platforms used across the branch that enable analysis, reporting, forecasting, and donor records management , including strategy for optimized use of Salesforce. Reporting to the Managing Director of Advancement Strategy and Operations , t he Senior Director leads annual and multiyear projections and forecasting processes , supports the infrastructure for the establishment and management of branch-wide key performance indicators ( KPIs ) and dashboards, and ensures data integrity, governance, and compliance across all systems . This role works closely with the Business Information Systems (BIS) team, Finance, and in coordination with all revenue teams.

Responsibilities

Business Systems and Data Strategy (25%)

  • Develop and manage a strategy to optimize the use of Salesforce and other business systems and data platforms , serving as the non-technical business owner , in close partnership with the BIS and CRM technical teams , including accountability for user guides, training programs, and frontline user support to ensure effective and consistent system adoption across the branch.
  • In coordination with the Managing Director and Chief Advancement Officer , develop and execute comprehensive business systems and data strategy that supports pipeline visibility, segmentation, coordinated donor management, projections, forecasting, and monitoring across all revenue streams.
  • Lead the development and stewardship of a robust RGB data ecosystem, setting internal standards and strategy for data governance, analytics, dashboards, and reporting systems that ensure timely, accurate, and actionable insights for leaders and resource generation teams. Establish and steward branch-wide standards for data definitions, working agreements, and KPI frameworks to ensure consistency and comparability across teams.
  • Lead RGB data integration across systems to improve consistency, reliability, and usability of information, with a deep understanding of how data entry decisions—such as address collection, activity tracking, and constituent record standards—create downstream repercussions across reporting, compliance, and fundraising effectiveness. Ensure compliance with organizational policies and external requirements related to data gathering and use.
  • Partner closely with Finance, BIS, and other enterprise teams to ensure alignment of systems, data standards, and operational processes across PIH.

Data Analysis and Projections (25%)

  • In coordination with other RGB leaders , facilitate annual and multiyear revenue projections and forecasting processes, partnering closely with leaders and revenue streams across the branch, ensuring methodologies are data-driven and consistent across teams.
  • Support the architecture, preparation, and facilitation of quarterly business review processes that bring leaders across Resource Generation together to assess progress towards revenue goals and KPIs .
  • Develop and manage systems for tracking and refining the branch’s KPI s through dashboards, reports, and strong internal communications systems, leveraging partnership and expertise from the BIS team.
  • Analyze quarterly data and develop strategic recommendations and insights to inform leadership decision-making, course corrections, and future goal setting.

Prospect Management and Research Leadership (25%)

  • Provide direction, management, and partnership to the Senior Director of Prospect Management and Research , overseeing prospect development, research, segmentation, and portfolio management across revenue streams.
  • Ensure clear standards and thresholds for portfolio construction, prospect and donor movement, research depth and accuracy , and prioritization.
  • Ensure fundraising leaders have the partnership that enables strategic prospecting, pipeline development, and effective portfolio management in support of revenue goals.

Gift Administration Leadership (25%)

  • Provide direction , management , and partnership to the Director of Gift Administration to ensure all gifts and grants are recorded, acknowledged, and tracked with accuracy, timeliness, and in alignment with donor intent, restrictions, and organizational pol icies.
  • Ensure strong internal controls, documentation, and coordination with Finance and other enterprise partners to support compliance and audit readiness.
  • Provide leadership over process standardization and continuous improvement across gift administration workflows to enhance efficiency, clarity, and service to donors and fundraising teams.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible experience in fundraising operations, data analysis, and business enablement in a complex nonprofit or comparable organization.
  • Deep knowledge of fundraising operations across revenue streams, including annual giving, major and principal gifts, and institutional fundraising.
  • Demonstrated experience leading CRM strategy, reporting, projections, KPI development, and data analysis for fundraising .
  • Deep experience and comfort in analyzing complex fundraising data to inform recommendations and business decisions.
  • Strong people management experience, including leading multi-team departments and developing managers.
  • Exceptional analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills .
  • Experience serving as a business owner or strategic lead for CRM and enterprise data platforms in partnership with technical teams preferred.
  • Experience with large-scale revenue forecasting and multi-year projections.
  • Familiarity with data governance, compliance, and integration across multiple systems.

The expected starting salary range for new hires in this position is between $159 , 650 - 180, 250 and may vary depending on multiple, individualized factors including functional experience and job-related experience.
