Role Summary

The Senior Data Governance Analyst is responsible for strengthening data governance practices across business and technology teams within a complex financial services environment. The role drives data governance, metadata management, data quality, data risk and technology risk initiatives while partnering with stakeholders to establish sustainable controls, standards, and processes that improve the management of enterprise data assets.

Key Accountabilities

  • Support the development, implementation and enforcement of enterprise data governance policies, standards and controls.
  • Partner with business, technology, risk and compliance stakeholders to define data ownership, stewardship and accountability models.
  • Drive metadata management, data lineage, data catalog and data quality initiatives using platforms such as Collibra, Alation and Informatica.
  • Identify, assess and monitor data risk and technology risk related to critical data assets.
  • Support governance of CMDB and IT Asset Management (ITAM) processes in ServiceNow, where applicable.
  • Facilitate stakeholder meetings to drive data governance outcomes, identify opportunities to improve data quality, and influence cross-functional teams to implement sustainable solutions that address data issues, strengthen controls, and achieve consensus.
  • Perform data analysis and technical assessments using database technologies and data management tools.
  • Define and monitor governance metrics, control effectiveness and remediation activities.
  • Support regulatory, audit and risk management activities within the financial services industry.
  • Provide consulting and subject matter expertise on governance best practices.

Qualifications

  • 5-8+ years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management or related disciplines within the financial services industry.
  • Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, metadata management, data quality and data lifecycle management.
  • Experience with Collibra, Alation, Informatica or similar enterprise data governance tools.
  • Hands-on experience working with databases, data models, SQL and related technologies.
  • Experience with ServiceNow ITAM and CMDB preferred.
  • Strong stakeholder management, negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Experience supporting Data Risk, Technology Risk, Operational Risk or related control functions preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Post-secondary degree in Business, Information Management, Computer Science or related field.
  • DCAM (Data Management Capability Assessment Model) certification or training is considered an asset.

$70,000.00 - $150,000.00

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
