In this pivotal role, you will operate at the intersection of cybersecurity and DevSecOps to protect critical software systems supporting water utilities and infrastructure. Your primary focus will be on securing the entire software development lifecycle by embedding security controls, identifying vulnerabilities, and ensuring that deployed applications are resilient against evolving cyber threats. You will collaborate closely with engineering and development teams to implement advanced threat detection, vulnerability management, and secure coding practices, thereby safeguarding essential community services. This position offers a unique opportunity to directly influence the security and reliability of vital water infrastructure while driving modern cybersecurity practices within the organization.

Responsibilities
- Conduct advanced security monitoring by analyzing complex alerts and traffic anomalies, developing custom detection rules to identify emerging threats.
- Lead incident response efforts for complex security incidents, including advanced persistent threats (APTs) and data breaches, performing forensic analysis and root cause determination.
- Design and execute vulnerability assessments, penetration tests, and simulated attack scenarios across infrastructure and applications to identify and remediate security gaps.
- Partner with IT and software development teams to remediate vulnerabilities, enhance secure coding practices, and ensure security is integrated into the software development lifecycle.
- Review security controls and ensure compliance with relevant regulatory and security frameworks, leading remediation efforts as necessary.
- Research advanced threat actors and develop proactive threat intelligence and defense strategies to stay ahead of emerging cyber threats.
- Mentor junior analysts and contribute to the ongoing development of the security team’s capabilities.
- Support the development and implementation of enterprise security strategies aligned with organizational goals and industry best practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to secure cloud-native applications, infrastructure, and CI/CD pipelines, ensuring best practices in security are maintained across all platforms.
