The Client:

Our client is a leading Canadian financial services organization with a well-established property and casualty insurance business. They are seeking an experienced actuarial professional to join a collaborative analytics team supporting claims, risk management and business decision-making. This is an existing vacancy with the opportunity to take ownership of meaningful actuarial work, partner with stakeholders across the organization and provide guidance to more junior team members.

What you will achieve in this role:

• Lead and perform actuarial analyses, research and validation work supporting property and casualty insurance.
• Develop monitoring and analytical reporting to assess long-tail claims experience and identify emerging trends.
• Partner with claims operations and legal stakeholders to define key performance indicators, deliver analytics and translate findings into practical business insights.
• Create clear dashboards, visualizations and presentations that communicate complex actuarial information to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Interpret results produced through established actuarial methodologies and determine when alternative approaches or adjustments are appropriate.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls, reporting and overall performance within the actuarial function.
• Prepare documentation supporting actuarial findings, recommendations and conclusions.
• Contribute actuarial expertise to cross-functional initiatives involving risk, governance and business performance.
• Build productive relationships across business lines and provide subject matter guidance on moderately complex issues.
• Support the development of junior actuarial team members through knowledge sharing, coaching and day-to-day guidance.
• What you must bring to this role:

• Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science or a related quantitative discipline.
• 5+ years of actuarial experience within Property & Casualty insurance.
• Meaningful progress toward Fellowship with the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) or Canadian Institute of Actuaries (CIA), with a strong foundation in P&C actuarial concepts.
• Strong programming and analytical capabilities, ideally including Python and SQL; experience with PySpark is beneficial.
• Experience working with claims, reserving, long-tail liabilities or related P&C actuarial analysis is strongly preferred.
• Ability to independently manage actuarial work and provide guidance to less experienced analysts.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical findings to a broad range of stakeholders.
• Experience with Power BI or executive-level dashboards is considered an asset.
• For Montreal-based candidates, bilingual English/French capabilities are an asset; the role requires strong English communication skills for regular collaboration with stakeholders.
