  • Position Summary
  • The Planning Analyst supports Flywheel Energy's integrated planning process by owning the detailed day-to-day development schedules for the Eagle Ford and Rockies assets. This position maintains drilling, completions, facilities, midstream, and first-production activities in Actenum DSO, ensuring that timing, dependencies, constraints, and cost phasing remain current and aligned across the supporting teams.

This role owns the design and ongoing maintenance of the rig-readiness process for both development programs. The Planning Analyst coordinates requirements, milestones, and handoffs across Asset Development, Drilling, Completions, Facilities, Midstream, Land, Regulatory, Finance, and Supply Chain. The position identifies schedule risks and optimization opportunities, organizes resolution of readiness gaps, and provides the detailed planning support needed to keep both programs on track.

The Planning Analyst is a developing planning professional who is expected to build deeper capability in integrated scheduling, capital planning, and cross-functional project coordination. Success requires strong organization, analytical thinking, attention to detail, curiosity, and the confidence to follow up on commitments and raise potential issues early.

Key Responsibilities:

  • I. Development Planning & Scheduling
  • Own and maintain the detailed day-to-day development schedules for the Eagle Ford and Rockies assets within Actenum DSO.
  • Integrate drilling, completions, facilities, midstream, and first-production activities into coordinated, executable schedules.
  • Maintain activity sequencing, dependencies, durations, resource assumptions, milestones, and schedule ownership as plans evolve.
  • Incorporate approved plan changes and communicate the resulting impacts to timing, capital, and first production.
  • Support longer-range development planning by providing accurate detailed schedules and current execution assumptions.
  • II. Rig Readiness & Constraint Coordination
  • Design and maintain a consistent rig-readiness process for the Eagle Ford and Rockies development programs.
  • Define and track readiness requirements, milestones, owners, and required-by dates for each drilling location.
  • Coordinate recurring readiness reviews and follow up with responsible teams to confirm progress and close gaps.
  • Track land, permitting, surface access, engineering, materials, contracts, facilities, midstream, and other prerequisites required to execute the schedule.
  • Identify constraints, critical-path items, and competing requirements early and elevate risks before they affect rig, frac, facility, or first-production timing.
  • III. Cost Phasing & Planning Support
  • Maintain accurate monthly cost phasing for drilling, completions, facilities, midstream, and related development capital based on the current schedule.
  • Partner with Finance and technical teams to incorporate changes in project timing, scope, and cost into planning forecasts.
  • Reconcile schedule-driven capital forecasts with approved plans, current estimates, and actual activity, and investigate material differences.
  • Prepare schedule and capital sensitivities to support forecast updates, planning decisions, and leadership discussions.
  • Maintain clear documentation of key schedule and cost assumptions.
  • IV. Schedule Optimization & Decision Support
  • Identify opportunities to improve drilling, frac, facilities, and midstream sequencing, resource utilization, cycle time, and first-production timing.
  • Evaluate schedule alternatives and clearly summarize the timing, cost, resource, and readiness tradeoffs.
  • Monitor schedule performance and incorporate lessons learned into future durations, dependencies, and planning assumptions.
  • Develop schedule reports, readiness views, and decision-support materials for technical teams and leadership.
  • Support annual planning, forecast updates, reserves processes, and special projects requiring schedule or capital analysis.
  • V. Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
  • Serve as the primary coordinator for detailed Eagle Ford and Rockies development schedules and readiness requirements.
  • Build effective working relationships across Asset Development, Drilling, Completions, Facilities, Midstream, Land, Regulatory, Finance, and Supply Chain.
  • Maintain clear documentation of schedule assumptions, constraints, decisions, owners, and outstanding actions.
  • Improve DSO data quality, schedule consistency, reporting, and planning documentation.
  • Identify practical opportunities to streamline recurring work through Excel, Power BI, automation, or other available tools.
  • Key Deliverables
  • Detailed Eagle Ford and Rockies development schedules
  • Rig-readiness framework, requirements, and recurring readiness tracking
  • Monthly drilling, completions, facilities, and midstream cost phasing
  • Constraint, critical-path, and schedule-risk reporting
  • Schedule alternatives and optimization recommendations
  • Development planning reports, dashboards, and documented assumptions

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • Minimum of five years of upstream oil and gas experience in development planning, drilling, completions, facilities, project controls, asset development, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with Actenum DSO and integrated activity scheduling.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills and experience working with schedules, costs, or planning data.
  • Experience coordinating projects or deliverables across multiple technical and business functions.
  • Experience with Power BI, data visualization, or automation tools preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Critical Competencies
  • Strong organization, attention to detail, and follow-through.
  • Ability to recognize dependencies, anticipate constraints, and keep complex work moving forward.
  • Analytical and practical problem-solving ability.
  • Curiosity and willingness to develop deeper planning and technical expertise.
  • Comfort working through ambiguity and changing priorities.
  • Ability to coordinate across teams and hold owners accountable for commitments.
  • Clear, proactive communication with technical teams and leadership.
