Energy Underwriting & Reserves Analyst — Rising Phoenix Resources (Dallas–Fort Worth, On-Site)
- About Rising Phoenix Resources
- Rising Phoenix Resources is a Dallas-based alternative investment firm operating across multiple verticals: oil & gas minerals and royalties, non-operated working interests, real estate, energy infrastructure (including AI data centers), and private lending. We source through a disciplined ground game, return capital to investors through monthly distributions, and reinvest aggressively to compound. Guided by our five core values — Do Good, Play Offense, Live Kaizen, Positive Mindset, Own It — we build durable financial opportunities for our investors and the communities we serve.
- The Role
- Full-time, on-site in Dallas–Fort Worth. We're hiring an Energy Underwriting & Reserves Analyst to be the analytical engine behind our mineral/royalty and working-interest acquisitions and divestitures — and to support forecasting across the broader Rising Phoenix portfolio. You'll own the numbers from raw production data to a buy/sell/pass recommendation, and you'll build modern, AI-assisted workflows that let us evaluate more deals, faster, than firms three times our size.
- What You'll Do
- Underwrite mineral, royalty, and non-operated working-interest opportunities end to end: source and clean production data, build decline-curve forecasts, run reserve economics, and value the package.
- Build and maintain reserve reports and economic models — PDP/PUD categorization, type curves, price decks, NRI/WI ownership, cash flow, and returns.
- Deliver clear buy/sell/pass recommendations with stated assumptions and sensitivities, and present them to the investment team and capital partners.
- Build AI-assisted workflows (ChatGPT, Claude, Manus, etc.) to automate data ingestion, extraction, and reporting — cutting turnaround on deal evaluation.
- Support financial modeling and forecasting across other Rising Phoenix business lines (real estate, energy infrastructure, lending) as needed.
- Required
- 5+ years in reserves engineering, A&D / reserve economics, or oil & gas investment analysis.
- Hands-on proficiency in reserves economics software — ComboCurve, PhdWin, or ARIES.
- Strong command of decline-curve analysis and reserve economics fundamentals (PDP/PUD, type curves, price decks, NRI/WI).
- Advanced Excel financial modeling.
- Ability to turn analysis into clear written reports and verbal recommendations for non-technical investors.
- A petroleum engineering degree is not required. We care about demonstrated reserves/A&D analytical capability, however you built it.
Preferred
- AI-forward: you already use LLM and automation tools to build workflows and eliminate bottlenecks.
- Experience modeling across asset classes beyond oil and gas.
- Power BI or similar data-visualization skills.
- Familiarity sourcing from state regulatory data (e.g., NM OCD, TX RRC) and vendor datasets (Enverus).
- How We Work
- At Rising Phoenix, we're building more than companies — we're building people. We learn by doing and pass down knowledge through mentorship at every level. We thrive by connecting ideas across verticals, from energy to real estate to private credit. We communicate openly, debate ideas respectfully, and hold ourselves to the highest standards. We welcome exceptional people from all backgrounds and evaluate on skills, potential, and values alignment.
- Benefits & Support
- We invest in benefits that support your family, health, financial security, and sense of purpose:
- Family & Life: Paid family leave and flexible scheduling support to balance work with the moments that matter.
- Wellness & Health: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, plus gym and wellness stipends.
- Financial & Professional Security: Competitive salary, performance-based bonuses, and a 401(k) retirement plan.
- Giving Back: Foundation board participation and paid volunteer days to support the causes you care about.
