  • A leading national general contractor is seeking an experienced MEP Superintendent to oversee mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire-protection, controls, and commissioning activities on large-scale data center projects throughout the United States.
  • This individual will manage MEP field execution from early coordination and equipment procurement through installation, energization, commissioning, and final turnover.
  • Key Responsibilities
  • Lead daily field execution of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire-protection, and building-controls scopes.
  • Coordinate MEP subcontractors, equipment vendors, commissioning agents, design partners, and field personnel.
  • Develop installation sequences, manpower plans, short-interval schedules, and milestone recovery plans.
  • Partner with project management and field leadership to align MEP activities with the master schedule, budget, safety program, and quality requirements.
  • Review drawings, specifications, submittals, coordination models, and sequences of operation for constructability.
  • Lead MEP coordination meetings and resolve design conflicts, installation constraints, and trade-interface issues.
  • Monitor the procurement, fabrication, delivery, installation, startup, and testing of long-lead equipment.
  • Oversee critical infrastructure, including electrical distribution, switchgear, generators, UPS systems, transfer switches, cooling equipment, controls, and life-safety systems.
  • Coordinate underground MEP installations, equipment setting, utility tie-ins, shutdowns, and temporary services.
  • Support energization planning, lockout/tagout procedures, startup, commissioning, integrated systems testing, and turnover.
  • Enforce project safety requirements and ensure all trade partners comply with site-specific policies.
  • Establish quality-control expectations and verify installations against contract documents and approved submittals.
  • Track subcontractor manpower, productivity, constraints, schedule performance, and milestone completion.
  • Maintain accurate field documentation, including daily reports, progress updates, inspections, testing records, and deficiency lists.
  • Lead punch-list completion, owner training, closeout documentation, and final systems turnover.
  • Mentor assistant superintendents, field engineers, and other project team members.
  • Qualifications
  • 7+ years of commercial or industrial construction experience, including significant MEP field supervision.
  • Previous experience as an MEP Superintendent, Assistant MEP Superintendent, or comparable field leader.
  • Data center or mission critical construction experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience managing large and technically complex mechanical and electrical scopes.
  • Strong knowledge of critical electrical distribution, emergency power, cooling, controls, fire protection, and plumbing systems.
  • Familiarity with data center energization, commissioning, integrated systems testing, and turnover requirements.
  • Experience coordinating work through BIM/VDC models and managing installation against detailed project schedules.
  • Working knowledge of electrical safety, lockout/tagout, and energized-work procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, plumbing, controls, and life-safety documents.
  • Strong leadership, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Thorough understanding of construction safety and quality-control requirements.
  • OSHA certification and current First Aid/CPR certification preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to travel nationally for long-term project assignments.
  • Preferred Background
  • The strongest candidates will have supported hyperscale or colocation data center projects involving:
  • Medium- and low-voltage electrical distribution
  • Switchgear, generators, UPS systems, PDUs, ATS and STS equipment
  • Chillers, cooling towers, CRAH/CRAC units, pumps, and hydronic piping
  • Building automation and electrical power-monitoring systems
  • Equipment energization and lockout/tagout
  • Startup, commissioning, and integrated systems testing
  • Phased turnover of critical spaces and systems
  • Experience with semiconductor, advanced manufacturing, pharmaceutical, healthcare, or other technically intensive facilities may also be considered.
  • Travel Requirements
  • This is a national traveling position. Candidates must be willing to relocate temporarily to active project sites and remain assigned through major construction, commissioning, and turnover milestones.
