Lead Business Analyst

• Duration: 12-month contract- possible transition
• Compensation: $50-63 an hour

Capstone IT is helping our client who was voted “best place to work” find a Lead Business Analyst and three additional Business Analyst who will work within a Scaled Agile delivery team to translate business needs into clear user stories, acceptance criteria, process documentation, and test scenarios. This person will partner closely with business stakeholders, engineers, designers, and other technology teams to understand requirements, document workflows, support solution development, test integrations and enhancements, track defects, and take ownership of assigned stories through the sprint lifecycle.

The client is hiring 3 Business Analysts and 1 Business Analyst Lead for an estimated 12-month engagement beginning October 1, 2026. The target experience level is approximately 4–8 years. The Lead BA additionally needs 3–5 years of people leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Gather and analyze requirements with business and technical stakeholders.
• Write user stories, acceptance criteria, use cases, and supporting documentation.
• Map current and future-state business processes and identify improvement opportunities.
• Participate as a core member of a Scaled Agile team.
• Own assigned stories and clarify requirements throughout the sprint.
• Participate in sprint planning, refinement, reviews, and retrospectives.
• Create process flows, system documentation, meeting notes, and other project artifacts.
• Develop and execute test plans and test scripts for enhancements, upgrades, and maintenance.
• Perform functional and integration testing, including validation of interactions with backend services.
• Document, prioritize, communicate, and track defects through resolution.
• Proactively identify risks and blockers and communicate their impact.
• Use Microsoft Teams, Jira, and email to coordinate across teams.
• Build knowledge of business processes, compliance requirements, systems, and workflows.
• Provide production and reporting support when needed.
• Follow required security policies.

Lead BA additional responsibilities: provide leadership to the BA team, serve as the primary BA point of contact for organizational initiatives, coordinate team activities, and report team deliverables, risks, and roadblocks.

Qualifications

• Approximately 4–8 years of relevant Business Analyst experience.
• Strong experience gathering and analyzing business and technical requirements.
• Hands-on experience writing user stories and acceptance criteria.
• Experience documenting and analyzing business processes.
• Experience working on Agile delivery teams; SAFe experience is highly relevant.
• Experience creating test cases/scripts and performing functional or integration testing.
• Experience documenting and managing bugs/defects.
• Ability to work independently when requirements are incomplete or ambiguous.
• Experience working directly with engineers, designers, and business stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
• Experience with Jira or comparable Agile/defect management tools.

Lead BA: 3–5 years of people leadership within a BA or similar organization, including ownership of organizational initiatives and reporting team deliverables/blockers.

• Nice to have: Previous experience with the Compass application/platform.
