  • Compensation: $33.00–$38.00 per hour, depending on experience
  • About Dope Diagnostics
  • Dope Diagnostics is preparing to launch a New York State cannabis testing laboratory in Pearl River, New York focused on rigorous analytical science, regulatory compliance, data integrity, and defensible laboratory results.
  • We are seeking a Laboratory Analyst / Analytical Chemist with hands-on LC-MS/MS, GC-MS, and GC-MS/MS experience to join our analytical chemistry team.
  • This position is intended for a scientist who has meaningful practical experience operating mass-spectrometry instrumentation and is comfortable participating in instrument setup, calibration, method validation, troubleshooting, analytical testing, quality control, and data review.
  • Cannabis-testing experience is preferred but not required. Candidates from pharmaceutical, environmental, food-safety, chemical, forensic, or other regulated analytical laboratories are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • The Laboratory Analyst / Analytical Chemist will:
  • Perform preparation and analysis of samples using LC-MS/MS, GC-MS, and GC-MS/MS methods.
  • Prepare samples, calibration standards, internal standards, blanks, spikes, controls, reagents, and other analytical materials.
  • Operate LC-MS/MS and GC-MS/MS instrumentation for routine and non-routine analytical testing.
  • Perform instrument tuning, calibration, system-suitability testing, and performance verification.
  • Monitor analytical sequences and evaluate chromatography, calibration curves, internal-standard response, QC results, and instrument performance.
  • Perform routine and preventive instrument maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot analytical and instrument issues involving chromatography, sensitivity, carryover, peak shape, retention time, calibration, contamination, and system performance.
  • Participate directly in method development, verification, validation, transfer, and implementation.
  • Execute approved validation protocols and accurately document validation results.
  • Review chromatograms, quantitative results, calibration data, QC results, and supporting analytical records.
  • Identify and investigate deviations, failed QC, unusual analytical results, instrument issues, and other conditions affecting data validity.
  • Assist with corrective actions and document investigations as required by the laboratory quality system.
  • Perform or support testing for pesticides, mycotoxins, residual solvents, terpenes, and other contaminants using assigned LC-MS/MS, GC-MS, and GC-MS/MS methods.
  • Enter and review analytical information and results in LIMS.
  • Maintain complete and contemporaneous instrument, maintenance, calibration, sample-preparation, analytical, and quality-control records.
  • Maintain sample integrity and chain-of-custody documentation.
  • Work in accordance with Dope Diagnostics' ISO/IEC 17025 quality-management system and applicable New York State Office of Cannabis Management requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with laboratory leadership as the laboratory completes validation, regulatory approval, and commercial launch.
  • Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, analytical chemistry, biochemistry, pharmaceutical science, environmental science, forensic science, or a related scientific discipline, or another combination of education and experience satisfying applicable New York laboratory personnel requirements.
  • At least two years of practical analytical laboratory experience.
  • Meaningful hands-on experience with LC-MS/MS and/or GC-MS and/or GC-MS/MS.
  • Experience preparing analytical samples, calibration standards, internal standards, blanks, spikes, and QC materials.
  • Understanding of chromatographic separation and quantitative mass-spectrometry principles.
  • Experience evaluating calibration curves, QC results, system suitability, and instrument-performance data.
  • Ability to perform routine instrument maintenance and troubleshoot common analytical issues.
  • Strong commitment to analytical data integrity and laboratory documentation.
  • Ability to work effectively in a regulated, quality-controlled laboratory.
  • Ability to work full-time on-site in Pearl River, New York.
  • Strongly Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with the following is particularly desirable:
  • Three or more years of LC-MS/MS and/or GC-MS and/or GC-MS/MS experience;
  • Hands-on experience with both LC-MS/MS, GC-MS, and GC-MS/MS;
  • SCIEX, Agilent, Shimadzu, Waters, or Thermo Fisher mass-spectrometry platforms;
  • Triple-quadrupole mass spectrometry;
  • Quantitative pesticide, residual solvents, terpenes or contaminant analysis;
  • Cannabis pesticide and/or mycotoxin testing;
  • Environmental, food-safety, pharmaceutical, or toxicology testing;
  • Analytical method development and validation;
  • Matrix-effect, recovery, accuracy, precision, linearity, LOD/LOQ, carryover, and robustness studies;
  • Instrument troubleshooting and preventive maintenance;
  • LIMS and chromatography/mass-spectrometry data systems;
  • ISO/IEC 17025, GLP, GMP, or another regulated laboratory quality system.
  • Direct cannabis-testing experience is preferred but not required. We are particularly interested in candidates with strong mass-spectrometry experience who can transfer those skills into cannabis compliance testing.
  • The Candidate We Are Looking For
  • We are looking for someone who has spent meaningful time at the instrument, not simply someone who has been exposed to LC-MS/MS, GC-MS, and GC-MS/MS.
  • The successful candidate should be comfortable running analytical sequences, reviewing chromatographic and quantitative data, evaluating QC performance, performing calibrations and maintenance, diagnosing instrument problems, and helping establish reliable analytical methods.
  • Why Join Dope Diagnostics
  • This position provides an opportunity to:
  • Join the laboratory during its validation and operational launch;
  • Work directly with sophisticated LC-MS/MS, GC-MS, and GC-MS/MS and other instrumentation;
  • Participate in method validation and implementation from the ground up;

  • Play a meaningful role in building the analytical chemistry capabilities of a new commercial laboratory.
  • Schedule
  • Full-time, Monday through Friday, on-site in Pearl River, New York. Some schedule flexibility may be required as validation and testing volumes increase.

Compensation
