  • About the Role
  • We are seeking an Insurance Capital Planning Analyst / Associate to support our insurance organization’s capital management team. This is a hands-on role focused on the execution of recurring capital planning, capital modeling, and capital reporting activities.
  • Key Responsibilities
  • Execute recurring quarterly capital planning, forecasting, and reporting activities.
  • Maintain, run, and enhance Excel-based capital models used for insurance capital planning and analysis.
  • Perform Risk-Based Capital (RBC) calculations, analysis, and reporting.
  • Analyze available capital, required capital, capital ratios, and other key capital metrics.
  • Prepare quarter-over-quarter capital analyses and explain key drivers of changes in capital requirements and capital position.
  • Update capital models using actual financial results, forecasts, business assumptions, investment information, and other relevant inputs.
  • Perform scenario analysis and sensitivity testing to assess the impact of changes in financial, investment, liability, and business assumptions.
  • Validate model inputs, assumptions, calculations, and outputs to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  • Investigate unexpected capital movements, variances, and modeling results.
  • Reconcile capital model outputs with financial reporting and underlying source data.
  • Prepare capital reporting materials and analyses for internal stakeholders.
  • Support quarter-end capital reporting timelines and other time-sensitive deliverables.
  • Partner with Finance, Treasury, Risk, Actuarial, Investments, and other teams to obtain required data and resolve modeling or reporting issues.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation and controls around capital planning and reporting activities.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and control of existing capital models and reporting processes.
  • Operate as an embedded member of the capital management team, supplementing existing resources and contributing directly to established processes.
  • Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in insurance capital planning, capital management, finance, treasury, risk, actuarial, or a closely related function.
  • Direct professional experience within the insurance industry, highly preferred
  • strong understanding of Risk-Based Capital (RBC). This individual must have personally operated capital models and supported recurring quarterly capital planning and reporting processes, rather than solely providing advisory or transformation support.
  • Strong Excel modeling capabilities, and the ability to quickly embed within an established team and contribute directly to existing capital management processes.
  • Strong knowledge of Risk-Based Capital (RBC) and its application within an insurance organization.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience performing capital planning, capital modeling, and capital reporting.
  • Experience personally running or maintaining capital models rather than solely managing, advising on, or transforming capital processes.
  • Experience supporting recurring quarterly capital planning and reporting cycles.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, with experience working directly with complex financial or capital models.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret capital results, identify variances, and explain key drivers.
  • Experience working with financial forecasts, model assumptions, scenario analysis, and sensitivity analysis.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to validate complex financial calculations.
  • Ability to operate effectively within established processes and meet time-sensitive reporting deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working directly within an insurance company’s Capital Management, Treasury, Finance, Risk, or Actuarial organization.
  • Life insurance and/or annuity industry experience.
  • Knowledge of statutory financial reporting and insurance regulatory capital requirements.
  • Experience analyzing RBC ratios, capital requirements, available capital, and capital sensitivities.
  • Experience performing quarter-over-quarter capital variance analysis.
  • Familiarity with insurance balance sheets, liabilities, investment portfolios, and the factors that influence capital requirements.
  • Experience enhancing or automating Excel-based capital models and reporting processes.
  • Consulting experience may be considered where the candidate can demonstrate direct, hands-on responsibility for operating the underlying capital models and reporting processes.
  • The ideal candidate is a hands-on insurance capital practitioner who can join an established team and contribute immediately.
  • This role is best suited to someone who has personally:
  • Run insurance capital models.
  • Performed RBC calculations and analysis.
  • Supported quarterly capital planning and reporting.
  • Maintained complex Excel-based models.
  • Investigated capital variances and changes in capital ratios.
  • Prepared recurring capital reports and analyses.
  • Candidates whose experience is primarily focused on capital strategy, project management, transformation, or consulting without direct responsibility for the underlying modeling and reporting processes are less aligned with the role.

Compensation - $90,000 - $120,000 Base
