ROLE OVERVIEW
The Financial Analyst will support the Finance team with the recurring analysis, reporting, and planning activities that help Seraphina understand performance and make sound business decisions. Reporting to the Senior Financial Analyst, this role will assist with monthly close reporting, financial model updates, weekly dashboard reviews, budgeting, and a wide range of ad hoc business questions.
This is an ideal opportunity for an early-career finance professional who has strong foundational analytical skills and is hungry to learn. The right person will be curious, willing to dig into the data, comfortable asking questions, and able to take direction without needing every step mapped out. They will join a collaborative, fast-moving team where they can build broad FP&A experience and take on greater responsibility over time.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ad Hoc Analysis & Cross-Functional Business Support
- • Complete ad hoc financial and operational analyses in response to questions from Finance, leadership, and department partners.
- • Build collaborative relationships with department leaders, learn their business needs, and help translate questions into practical analysis, reporting, models, or dashboards.
- • Analyze customer performance, operating expenses, unit economics, and other business drivers as needed, validating the data and clearly communicating findings or inconsistencies.
- • Contribute wherever needed within a lean Finance team and take on increasingly complex work as knowledge and capability grow.
- Monthly Reporting, Close & Financial Model Support
- • Support the monthly close process in partnership with the Financial Controller and accounting team by running reports, reviewing results for reasonableness, and helping investigate unexpected variances or inconsistencies.
- • Roll forward and update assigned portions of the company financial model after close, ensuring actual results and key assumptions are accurately reflected.
- • Help identify key sales and operating expense drivers and understand how changes in those drivers affect company performance and forecasts.
- • Prepare recurring monthly reporting and budget-to-actual analysis, responding to follow-up questions as business needs evolve.
- Budgeting & Forecasting Support
- • Support the annual budgeting and ongoing forecasting processes by preparing templates, gathering data, updating assumptions, and completing foundational analysis.
- • Partner with department leaders to share budget information, answer questions, and help them develop thoughtful and achievable plans.
- • Assist with financial analyses and materials for leadership and board meetings as needed.
- Data Quality, Systems & Process Improvement
- • Review weekly dashboard data and confirm that information from multiple sources and system integrations is flowing through completely and accurately.
- • Pull, organize, reconcile, and validate data using Excel, Google Sheets, and other company platforms rather than relying on automated outputs without review.
- • Help identify and support practical improvements to FP&A and accounting processes through clearer workflows, system integrations, automation, or other technology solutions.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education & Experience
- • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, business, data analytics, data science, business intelligence, or a related quantitative field.
- • 1–3 years of professional experience in financial analysis, FP&A, accounting, consulting, investment banking, or another analytically rigorous role.
- • Experience in a high-growth, startup, consumer products, direct-to-consumer, or eCommerce environment is helpful but not required. Familiarity with subscription eCommerce metrics is a plus.
- Skills & Attributes
- • Strong foundational financial and analytical skills, with the ability to work accurately with detailed information.
- • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and comfort working in Google Sheets. Exposure to financial modeling, data visualization, or business intelligence and reporting tools is preferred.
- • Comfort pulling, organizing, and validating data from multiple sources, including manually reviewing information to confirm it makes sense.
- • NetSuite experience is helpful but not required. Willingness and ability to learn new systems quickly is more important.
- • Curious and eager to learn, with the judgment to ask good questions, pursue answers, and seek guidance when needed.
- • Self-directed and resourceful, with the ability to move work forward without requiring every step to be prescribed.
- • Collaborative, approachable, and low ego, with a willingness to pitch in and contribute to shared priorities.
- • Strong attention to detail, follow-through, and communication skills, with the ability to balance recurring responsibilities and changing priorities in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Competitive compensation commensurate with experience, with a base salary range of $70,000–$80,000.
