About The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Finance and Operations Analyst to join our Softwood Lumber team, supporting our facilities in McComb, Mississippi, and Holden, Louisiana. The successful candidate will be based at one of these locations, with regular travel to the other facility on a weekly basis. This role is pivotal in partnering with unit business leaders to drive operational excellence through problem-solving, financial analysis, and strategic insights. The analyst will move beyond traditional reporting to deliver actionable information that supports business strategy execution and ensures top-quartile performance. The ideal candidate will possess a proactive mindset, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to communicate complex financial data effectively. This role requires a blend of strategic thinking, operational understanding, and hands-on financial expertise to support continuous improvement initiatives, capital project evaluations, and financial planning activities. The analyst will be instrumental in developing financial models, participating in budgeting and forecasting, and providing critical insights for decision-making. Occasional travel for meetings, training, and development is expected, making flexibility and adaptability essential qualities for success in this position.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in financial planning and analysis, preferably within the manufacturing or softwood lumber industry.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Flexible and capable of adapting to new perspectives and problem-solving approaches.
  • Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting tools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with business leaders.
  • Willingness to travel weekly between McComb, MS, and Holden, LA facilities.
  • 2-5 years of relevant work experience demonstrating progression in responsibilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, embrace change, and collaborate to achieve results.
  • Desire and capacity to learn about the lumber industry’s operational aspects.
  • Experience with enterprise systems such as SAP is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with unit business leaders to promote operational excellence through problem-solving, financial analysis, and strategic insights.
  • Provide accurate, timely financial analysis, variance analysis, and reporting to support decision-making processes.
  • Develop and maintain financial models to forecast business performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Participate in annual budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Lead and serve as the primary contact for monthly P&L and S&OP forecasting activities, ensuring accurate month-end closing and reporting of operating costs and margins.
  • Conduct financial evaluations of capital projects and develop production reports for statistical tracking at the mills.
  • Lead strategic planning initiatives, offering solutions for continuous improvement and maintaining internal controls.
  • Create, maintain, and distribute routine fiscal management reports, establishing efficient processes and documentation standards.
  • Participate in special projects, fostering teamwork and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Assist with internal and external financial audits, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
  • Manage time effectively by prioritizing tasks and multitasking to meet deadlines.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary within the range of $82,500 to $123,800, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
  • Annual merit-based salary increases and eligibility for an annual incentive bonus targeting 7% of base pay, with potential funding up to twice the target.
