# Senior Data Scientist – Analytics & Data Science

## About the Role

Atlassian is seeking an experienced **Data Scientist** to join its world-class Data Science team and use data to drive insights about products, customers, and business performance. You will partner closely with Product Managers, Engineers, Researchers, Data Engineers, Marketers, Privacy teams, and Executive leadership to understand customer engagement, evaluate product investments, and influence business strategy.

This role combines quantitative analysis, experimentation, statistical modeling, forecasting, and data storytelling. You will develop hypotheses, identify opportunities, measure product outcomes, and translate complex analysis into clear recommendations that shape product development and business roadmaps.

## Key Responsibilities

• * Collaborate with cross-functional partners on a variety of product and business problems.
• * Serve as a trusted strategic partner by bringing structure and clarity to complex analytical challenges.
• * Apply quantitative analysis, experimentation, and data presentation techniques to develop business strategies and solve high-impact problems.
• * Develop and test hypotheses using analytical methodologies, frameworks, and technical approaches.
• * Identify opportunities to improve products and business performance and influence product roadmaps through data-driven insights and recommendations.
• * Partner with cross-functional teams to inform, influence, and execute strategic decisions.
• * Forecast and monitor key product metrics to identify trends and measure the success of product initiatives.
• * Use data to shape product development, quantify opportunities, identify potential challenges, and evaluate product value.
• * Communicate analytical findings through effective data storytelling to broad audiences, including company leadership.
• * Craft analytical work into clear, well-written content and actionable recommendations.
• * Advise senior executives and serve as a data-driven thought partner.

## Required Qualifications

### Experience

• * **8+ years of experience in Data Science or related fields.**
• * Demonstrated experience driving projects or programs that have had measurable impact on business strategy and performance through analytics.
• * Proven experience advising, presenting to, and serving as a thought partner to senior executives.
• * Proven track record of translating analysis into well-written content.

### Technical Skills

• * Proficiency in **SQL**.
• * Proficiency in at least one additional data manipulation programming language, such as **Python or R**.
• * Expertise in data storytelling and communicating insights effectively.
• * Familiarity with at least one data visualization tool, such as:

• * Tableau
• * R-Shiny
• * MicroStrategy
• * SAP BusinessObjects
• * Looker
• * Strong knowledge of statistical concepts and their application to business problems, including:

• * Regression
• * A/B testing
• * Clustering
• * Probability
• * Ability to adapt and combine statistical approaches based on the business problem.

## Preferred Qualifications

• * **10+ years of experience** in Data Science or related fields.
• * Understanding of the **SaaS business model** and key SaaS metrics.

## Work Arrangement & Location

• * **Work Arrangement:** Remote

## Compensation

Atlassian uses geographic pay zones for U.S. new hires. Current base salary ranges for this role are:

• * **Zone A:** $206,100–$269,075
• * **Zone B:** $185,490–$242,168
• * **Zone C:** $171,063–$223,332

The applicable geographic pay zone depends on the candidate's location. Base pay is determined based on skills, knowledge, and experience.

The role may also be eligible for **benefits, bonuses, commissions, and equity**.
