About The Role
This role is a pivotal part of Lockheed Martin's data science and analytics team, focusing on developing and implementing advanced machine learning models, data mining techniques, and statistical algorithms to extract meaningful insights from complex datasets. The successful candidate will work closely with subject matter experts, software engineers, and stakeholders to translate manual data analysis into automated, scalable analytics solutions. This position involves prototyping algorithms, evaluating model performance, and integrating solutions into operational workflows to support strategic decision-making. Candidates will also be responsible for designing experiments, generating synthetic data when necessary, and creating comprehensive reports and visualizations to communicate findings effectively. The role demands a proactive approach to problem-solving, strong programming skills, and the ability to handle sensitive information with the utmost confidentiality, as this position requires an active TS/SCI Full Scope Poly clearance prior to start.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of five (5) years of experience in data analysis, machine learning, and developing analytics solutions, along with proficiency in programming languages such as Python and R. A strong background in statistical analysis, data wrangling, and database management is essential. Candidates should have at least five (5) years of experience working with data analysis software, including R, Python, SAS, or MATLAB. An additional four (4) years of experience in software development, cloud-based solutions, or advanced analytics can be substituted for a bachelor’s degree. Candidates must hold an active TS/SCI Full Scope Poly clearance prior to commencing employment. A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field is preferred, but equivalent experience is acceptable. Familiarity with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow and Scikit-Learn, as well as data visualization tools like Tableau and Matplotlib, is highly desirable.
Responsibilities
- Develop, prototype, and evaluate machine learning models and algorithms to analyze datasets and generate predictive insights.
- Partner with subject matter experts to understand data requirements and translate manual analysis into automated solutions.
- Design and implement experiments to test algorithm performance and optimize models based on relevant metrics.
- Build data pipelines and manage large datasets using SQL and NoSQL database systems such as PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
- Generate comprehensive reports, dashboards, and visualizations to communicate findings effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate analytics solutions within operational workflows and production environments.
- Maintain data security and confidentiality, adhering to security protocols and standards required for classified projects.
- Continuously research emerging trends and technologies in data science and machine learning to enhance analytical capabilities.
