About The Role
The Laboratory Informatics Systems Administrator plays a crucial role in overseeing the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and lifecycle management of laboratory informatics systems within a regulated environment. This position ensures that all laboratory software solutions operate reliably, securely, and in compliance with applicable regulatory standards such as FDA, ISO, and other relevant guidelines. Acting as a key liaison between laboratory operations, IT, quality assurance, and external vendors, the administrator supports system functionality, data integrity, and continuous improvement initiatives. They are responsible for managing user access, maintaining validated system states, supporting audits and inspections, and troubleshooting technical issues that may impact laboratory workflows. Success in this role requires a strong technical aptitude, a thorough understanding of regulated laboratory processes, and the ability to translate operational needs into compliant digital solutions that enhance efficiency, data quality, and regulatory compliance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Life Sciences, Information Technology, or Engineering.
- 2-4 years of related experience in laboratory informatics, systems administration, or a similar role.
- Applicable industry or professional certifications (e.g., GxP, Laboratory Informatics certifications) are preferred.
- Strong understanding of regulated laboratory environments and compliance standards.
- Proficiency with laboratory information management systems (LIMS), electronic lab notebooks (ELN), and related software.
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external vendors.
- Ability to support audits and inspections with detailed documentation and system validation evidence.
- Willingness to travel occasionally, possessing a valid driver’s license and passport.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the implementation, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of laboratory informatics systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
- Manage user access controls, system validation, and security protocols to safeguard data integrity and confidentiality.
- Support system audits, inspections, and validation activities, preparing necessary documentation and reports.
- Troubleshoot technical issues impacting laboratory workflows and coordinate with IT and external vendors for resolution.
- Collaborate with laboratory, quality, and IT teams to optimize system performance and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist in the development and update of standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and validation protocols related to laboratory systems.
- Support integration of laboratory systems with other manufacturing and enterprise systems such as SAP, MES, and EBR.
- Participate in risk management activities, including risk assessments and mitigation strategies for laboratory informatics systems.
- Contribute to the validation and qualification of new systems and upgrades, ensuring adherence to GxP and regulatory requirements.
- Support training initiatives for end-users to ensure proper use and understanding of laboratory software solutions.
- Maintain documentation related to system lifecycle management, including change control, validation, and calibration records.
- Stay updated on industry best practices, regulatory changes, and technological advancements relevant to laboratory informatics.
