  • One of our top clients in the San Diego / Del Mar area has asked us to assist them in their search for a Cybersecurity Analyst / SOC Analyst. They want us to help them find the very best talent available. This is a 6+ month consulting position with an excellent chance of converting to a direct, full-time employee of our client in the future. A detailed job description of the position is listed below.
  • Position Overview
  • The ProSource Group is seeking a Cybersecurity Analyst / SOC Analyst to join our consulting team and support cybersecurity operations for one of our pharmaceutical industry clients. The Cybersecurity Analyst will work onsite five days per week as a member of the client's Security Operations Center (SOC). This position will play an important role in monitoring, investigating, and responding to cybersecurity threats and security events across the client's enterprise environment.
  • The analyst will monitor enterprise security tools for alerts, investigate and triage potential security incidents, process escalations from outsourced security service providers, manage assigned security tickets, and escalate complex or higher-risk incidents to senior members of the cybersecurity team.

  • Key Responsibilities
  • Actively monitor enterprise cybersecurity tools and platforms for security alerts, suspicious activity, and potential threats.
  • Work as part of the Security Operations Center (SOC) to monitor, investigate, and triage security events.
  • Review and process escalations received from outsourced security service providers.
  • Actively monitor the Information Security ticket queue and investigate, resolve, or appropriately escalate assigned incidents in a timely manner.
  • Analyze file samples, email attachments, URLs, and web links to determine whether they are malicious, suspicious, or benign.
  • Investigate potential security threats and assist in determining appropriate remediation and mitigation actions.
  • Document investigation findings, actions taken, and incident resolution in accordance with established security procedures.
  • Escalate complex, significant, or higher-risk security incidents to senior members of the cybersecurity team.
  • Collaborate with internal IT and cybersecurity personnel and external security service providers during security investigations and incident response activities.
  • Support cybersecurity projects, initiatives, process improvements, and other activities led by the Security Information team.
  • Assist with maintaining and improving security monitoring and incident-response processes.
  • Required Qualifications & Experience
  • 2+ years of professional experience in cybersecurity, information security, security operations, SOC, incident response, or a closely related IT security role.
  • Hands-on experience monitoring, triaging, and investigating cybersecurity alerts and potential security incidents.
  • Hands-on experience working with enterprise security tools and platforms.
  • Experience with CrowdStrike or a comparable Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) platform.
  • Experience analyzing suspicious files, email attachments, URLs, web links, or other potentially malicious content.
  • Understanding of common cybersecurity threats, attack techniques, indicators of compromise, and incident-response concepts.
  • Ability to assess security events, determine appropriate response actions, and recognize when an incident should be escalated.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and investigative skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced SOC environment and collaborate with both internal teams and external security service providers.
  • Ability and willingness to work onsite five days per week.
  • Technical Experience
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise security tools and platforms, including:
  • SIEM (Security Information and Event Management)
  • EDR (Endpoint Detection and Response)
  • NDR/NTA (Network Detection and Response / Network Traffic Analysis)
  • Vulnerability and Exposure Management solutions
  • SOAR (Security Orchestration, Automation and Response) technologies
  • Highly Preferred Qualifications
  • One or more industry-recognized cybersecurity certifications are highly preferred, such as CompTIA Security+, SSCP, CCNP Security, CISSP, or an equivalent cybersecurity certification.
  • Familiarity with Mimecast and Wiz.
  • Experience working in a Security Operations Center (SOC) or similar security operations environment.
  • Experience with incident response, threat investigation, and security event analysis.
  • Familiarity with threat intelligence, malware analysis, and indicators of compromise.
  • Knowledge of enterprise networking, operating systems, authentication, and common security controls.
  • Ideal Candidate
  • The ideal candidate is a hands-on cybersecurity professional with at least two years of experience in security operations or a SOC environment. The successful candidate will be comfortable working with multiple enterprise security technologies, investigating security alerts, analyzing potential threats, and taking appropriate action.
  • We are looking for someone who is analytical, curious, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced security operations environment. The ideal candidate understands the importance of following established security procedures while also knowing when an issue requires escalation.
  • Experience with CrowdStrike and familiarity with Mimecast and Wiz will be particularly valuable.
