Job Title: BOBJ to Power BI Migration Consultant

We are seeking an experienced SAP BusinessObjects (BOBJ) to Power BI Migration to lead and support a strategic enterprise reporting modernization initiative. This role will be responsible for defining the migration strategy, assessing existing BusinessObjects assets, planning and executing migration reports to Power BI, and providing ongoing support for the SAP BusinessObjects platform during the transition period.
The ideal candidate will possess deep hands-on expertise in both SAP BusinessObjects and Microsoft Power BI, with proven experience leading large-scale BI migration programs, driving stakeholder engagement, and delivering scalable reporting solutions.

Key Responsibilities
Migration Strategy & Planning
Assess existing SAP BusinessObjects reporting environments, including Web Intelligence (WebI), Crystal Reports, Universes, and related BI assets.
Develop and execute a comprehensive migration roadmap from SAP BusinessObjects to Power BI.
Define migration standards, governance models, best practices, and implementation methodologies.
Conduct report inventory analysis, rationalization, and prioritization exercises.
Provide recommendations on report redesign, consolidation, and modernization opportunities.
Migration Execution
Lead end-to-end migration of reports, dashboards, and analytical solutions from SAP BusinessObjects to Power BI.
Translate BusinessObjects Universes and semantic layers into Power BI data models.
Design and develop Power BI datasets, reports, dashboards, and visualizations.
Optimize report performance, scalability, and usability within Power BI.
Validate migrated reports to ensure functional and data accuracy.
SAP BusinessObjects Platform Support
Provide ongoing administration and support for SAP BusinessObjects environments during the migration period.
Manage CMC administration, user security, scheduling, publications, and system monitoring.
Troubleshoot report failures, performance issues, and platform-related incidents.
Support business users with report maintenance and operational needs.
Stakeholder Collaboration
Partner with business stakeholders, BI teams, data teams, and leadership to understand reporting requirements.
Conduct workshops and migration planning sessions.
Communicate project progress, risks, dependencies, and recommendations to stakeholders.
Provide user training, documentation, and knowledge transfer activities.
Governance & Best Practices
Establish reporting standards and Power BI governance frameworks.
Implement security models, row-level security (RLS), and data access controls.
Drive adoption of modern analytics and self-service reporting capabilities.
Ensure compliance with organizational data governance and security requirements.

Required Qualifications
7+ years of Business Intelligence and Analytics experience.
Strong hands-on experience with SAP BusinessObjects (BOBJ) platform administration and development.

Universe Designer (UNX/UNV)
Central Management Console (CMC)
Scheduling and Publications
Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Power BI including:
Power BI Desktop
Power BI Service

Workspace Administration
Gateway Management
Row-Level Security (RLS)
Proven experience leading or participating in BOBJ to Power BI migration projects.
Experience gathering requirements and translating business needs into reporting solutions.
Strong troubleshooting, performance tuning, and analytical skills.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with enterprise BI modernization initiatives.
Experience with SQL and relational databases.
Knowledge of cloud-based analytics platforms (Azure preferred).
Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and ETL processes.
Experience with Agile project delivery methodologies.
Microsoft Power BI certifications and/or SAP BusinessObjects certifications are preferred.
