SB Nation has been a leading network of sports fan communities for over 20 years, attracting some of the biggest and most loyal audiences in the industry. As we invest in the next chapter – deepening those communities and growing our audience across web, app, and social – data plays a key role in how we make decisions.

That's where you come in. We're looking for an Audience Development Analyst to turn data into the insights that shape how we grow and engage our fans. Based in our New York office and working alongside our geographically distributed editorial, commercial, and operations team, you'll build the reporting they rely on, dig past the obvious numbers to find what's driving performance, and help set the benchmarks we measure ourselves against.

What you’ll do:

  • Design, build, and maintain automated and ad-hoc reports and dashboards spanning web, app, and social data sources
  • Run in-depth analyses and turn them into actionable insights that guide editorial and audience strategy
  • Partner with stakeholders to define and evolve the KPIs that reflect business goals and inform both day-to-day decisions and long-term strategy
  • Set benchmarks and track performance across community engagement, campaigns, paid marketing, and app growth
  • Present data-informed best practices and act as a go-to resource for data questions across SB Nation and the wider company
  • Build strong working relationships with editorial to develop, communicate, and implement growth strategies

What you’ll bring:

  • [4+] years of experience in analytics, audience development, or a related data function
  • An analytical, detail-oriented mind and a genuine curiosity – you don't just report the data, you dig deeper to surface the themes behind key trends, results, and outcomes, always with an eye toward elevating performance
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill actionable insights for non-technical audiences
  • The ability to manage multiple tracks of work at once, balancing short- and long-term projects, and the initiative to start new projects and see them through – solo or in collaboration
  • High proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets, including aggregating data from disparate sources into a single, consolidated view
  • Experience with Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, Parse.ly, and/or the native insights from major social platforms (Meta, X, YouTube etc.)

Helpful additional qualifications:

  • A passion for digital publishing and sports
  • Previous experience with a loyalty- or community-driven business
  • Familiarity with SQL and working with large datasets
  • Experience with data visualization tools (Looker, Tableau, Data Studio, or similar)
  • Understanding of SEM, SEO, social platforms/YouTube, apps, and paid marketing campaign analytics
  • Experience training and educating stakeholders on how to leverage data and insights to drive results
