VP of Data Governance

JCW is partnering with a leading global financial institution to hire a VP of Data Governance. This is a senior leadership role sitting at the heart of a major data transformation, with visibility across the business and a real opportunity to influence how data is owned, trusted and used at an enterprise level.

This would suit someone who thrives in complex, regulated environments, knows how to bring stakeholders on a journey, and has the hands-on experience to back it up.

Responsibilities

• Leading the design and delivery of the enterprise data governance framework across all business lines
• Driving data ownership, stewardship and accountability models throughout the organisation
• Overseeing data quality programmes, metadata management and data lineage across critical data assets
• Managing and developing Collibra as the firm's primary data governance platform, including configuration and user adoption
• Ensuring the firm meets its regulatory obligations under BCBS 239, GDPR and other relevant data requirements
• Acting as a senior point of contact for data governance across technology, risk, compliance and business teams
• Developing and enforcing data policies, standards and controls with clear ownership at every level
• Building out and mentoring a team of data governance professionals
• Presenting governance maturity, risk and progress updates to senior leadership and the board

Requirements

• 8 or more years of experience in data governance or data management within financial services
• Experience operating at or close to VP level, with a track record of influencing senior stakeholders
• Strong working knowledge of Collibra, including hands-on platform experience
• A solid grasp of BCBS 239, GDPR and the regulatory landscape for data in financial services
• Familiarity with DAMA-DMBOK, DCAM or similar governance frameworks
• Comfortable working across technology and business functions to drive practical, lasting change
• Clear and confident communicator who can engage at all levels of the organisation
