Position Summary

  • We are seeking an experienced Vice President of Construction to provide executive leadership across multiple active construction markets, ensuring the successful delivery of complex projects from pre-construction through commissioning and closeout. This individual will oversee Construction Directors, drive capital project execution, manage multi-million-dollar CAPEX programs, and establish operational excellence across all regions.
  • The ideal candidate brings extensive data center construction experience, a strong background managing both CSA and MEP scopes, and a proven ability to lead large, geographically dispersed teams while maintaining schedule, budget, quality, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide executive oversight for all construction activities across multiple active campuses and markets.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Construction Directors responsible for regional project execution.
  • Drive accountability for campus CAPEX budgets while ensuring compliance with financial controls and company policies.
  • Oversee the full project lifecycle, including:
  • Pre-construction planning
  • Competitive bidding and contractor selection
  • Construction execution
  • Commissioning
  • Project closeout and turnover to Operations
  • Partner closely with Development, Finance, Operations, Sales, and Cost Management teams to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Support customer engagement by ensuring construction commitments align with lease obligations and client expectations.
  • Manage resource allocation for internal teams and third-party project management partners.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with contractors, consultants, and vendors.
  • Review contractor proposals, evaluate major trade bid packages, develop project proformas, and provide executive-level cost analysis.
  • Drive forecasting, variance analysis, budgeting, and continuous cost optimization initiatives.
  • Identify cost drivers, evaluate alternative construction methods and technologies, and recommend value engineering opportunities.
  • Establish best practices by incorporating lessons learned across projects to improve future execution.
  • Coordinate construction activities with Operations to minimize disruptions to existing facilities.
  • Prepare executive reports and project updates for senior leadership on a monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Conduct performance reviews, coach team members, and foster a collaborative, high-performance culture.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent industry experience).
  • 10-15 years of construction leadership experience required; 15-20+ years preferred.
  • Demonstrated executive leadership experience overseeing large-scale construction organizations.
  • Required: Extensive data center construction experience.
  • Strong background managing both:
  • CSA (Civil, Structural & Architectural)
  • MEP (Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing)
  • Proven success delivering large, complex construction projects from planning through turnover.
  • Strong expertise in construction estimating, cost analysis, forecasting, and CAPEX management.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams and executive stakeholders.
  • Strong project management and decision-making capabilities.
