- About the Role
- Abitibi Geophysics is a leader in advanced geophysical solutions for mineral exploration and geotechnical applications. We are seeking a detail-oriented Geophysical Technician – Data Processing to support our technical team in processing, organizing, and preparing geophysical datasets for interpretation and reporting.
This position is primarily office-based and focuses on data quality, processing workflows, mapping, technical support and reporting.
- Key Responsibilities
- Prepare maps and supporting documentation for field operations and survey teams.
- Perform processing of geophysical data from a variety of survey methods including IP, EM, andMagnetics.
- Perform quality control checks to ensure completeness, compliance with project requirements andaccuracy of datasets.
- Generate maps, sections, grids, and profiles.• Organize and maintain structured project databases, archives, and file management systems.• Support geophysicists with modelling, inversions, and interpretation workflows.
- Compile spatial datasets, survey layouts, and GIS information for project use.
- Prepare figures, tables, and supporting materials for technical reports.
- Identify data issues and communicate them clearly to geophysicists or project leaders.
- Assist in developing efficient data processing procedures and quality standards.
- Collaborate with technical staff to ensure timely project completion.
Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Geophysics, Geology, GIS, Earth Sciences, Physics, or a related field.
- Strong interest and understanding of fundamental physics concepts.
- Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable performing repetitive tasks with consistency and accuracy.
- Strong attention to detail. Experience using Oasis Montaj, ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar software.
- Comfortable working with large datasets and technical software.
- Strong computer skills and data management capabilities.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary technical team.
- Demonstrates strong flexibility, and responsiveness in a fast-paced work environment.
- Assets
- Previous geophysical data processing experience.
- Basic Python, scripting, or automation experience.
- Familiarity with inversion and modelling workflows.
- Experience in mineral exploration, geoscience, GIS, or related technical mapping environments.
- Bilingual in English and French.
