- Valuation Associate / Financial Analyst
- Your Legacy Partners | Business Valuation & Financial Advisory
- Location: Remote — United States
- Compensation: $65,000–$125,000 in total annual compensation, depending on experience, demonstrated capabilities, and agreed responsibilities.
- Engagement: Independent contractor (1099), subject to confirmation that the working arrangement meets applicable classification requirements. A future transition to employee status may be considered by mutual agreement.
- You love finance. You understand the numbers. And you're ready for more.
- Maybe you're a financial analyst who wants greater ownership of your work. Maybe you've worked in accounting, valuation, or corporate finance. Or perhaps you became a financial advisor because you love finance but discovered that your strengths lie more in analysis than sales.
- You're exceptionally comfortable in Excel, notice details others miss, and enjoy understanding why a business performs the way it does—not simply entering numbers into a spreadsheet.
- If that sounds like you, we'd like to talk.
- Your Legacy Partners is seeking a Valuation Associate / Financial Analyst to analyze and value privately held businesses, primarily wealth management firms and financial advisory practices.
- This is a hands-on analytical role requiring strong financial fundamentals, advanced Excel skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to independently manage multiple engagements.
- What you'll do
- Analyze financial statements, tax returns, and supporting documents; reconcile information and investigate inconsistencies.
- Normalize earnings by evaluating owner compensation, nonrecurring expenses, related-party transactions, and other adjustments.
- Build financial models, projections, discounted cash flow analyses, and scenarios using well-supported assumptions.
- Analyze valuation multiples, discount rates, and other factors to develop defensible valuation conclusions.
- Manage approximately 10 concurrent engagements, including information requests, follow-ups, deadlines, and deliverables.
- Produce accurate, thoroughly checked, review-ready work.
- Who we're looking for
- You have:
- A strong understanding of financial statements, particularly P&Ls, profitability, and cash flow.
- Advanced Excel skills, including building, modifying, and auditing financial models.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Strong analytical judgment and the initiative to investigate discrepancies and challenge unsupported assumptions.
- The organization and communication skills to independently manage multiple projects.
- A genuine interest in becoming an exceptional valuation professional.
- Experience: Generally 2+ years in business valuation, financial analysis, accounting, transaction advisory, investment banking, corporate finance, or a similarly analytical role.
- Financial advisors with substantial financial analysis and modeling experience are also encouraged to apply.
- A strong educational foundation in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field is expected.
- Experience with private-company valuations, EBITDA normalization, DCF modeling, and valuation multiples is desirable. Experience in the wealth management industry is a plus, but not required.
- CVA designation: Candidates must hold the Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) designation or be willing to begin pursuing it promptly. We will support professional development, with a target of completion in approximately six months, subject to eligibility and credentialing requirements.
- What this position is NOT
- Not data entry: You need to understand and interpret the financial information.
- Not mechanical modeling: You must understand and defend the assumptions behind your analysis.
- Not constant hand-holding: We provide guidance, but expect initiative and independent thinking.
- Not speed over accuracy: Our clients make significant financial decisions based on our work.
- Not a sales or investing role: The primary focus is business valuation, financial analysis, modeling, and project management.
- Why join Your Legacy Partners?
- We are a specialized advisory firm helping business owners navigate valuations, acquisitions, ownership transitions, compensation structures, and exit planning.
- You'll work directly with experienced professionals on meaningful client engagements, with opportunities to develop your analytical judgment and take on increasing responsibility.
- As you demonstrate strong performance, you may gain exposure to M&A transactions, acquisition modeling, private equity-backed buyers, strategic consulting, and ownership transitions.
- Our goal is to find someone who wants to become exceptional at valuation and potentially grow into a broader transaction and advisory professional.
- Compensation and work arrangement
- Total annual compensation is $65,000–$125,000, depending on experience, demonstrated capabilities, and agreed responsibilities.
- The role is fully remote and open to candidates throughout the United States.
- The intended arrangement is independent contracting, subject to applicable worker-classification requirements. We are also open to discussing a potential employee relationship in the future if mutually desirable.
- How to apply
- Please submit your résumé and complete the application screening questions.
- Our selection process may include a practical financial analysis and modeling exercise.
- If you take pride in understanding the business behind the numbers and want to develop into a highly capable valuation professional, we'd like to hear from you.
