POSITION SUMMARY
The Supply Chain Analyst supports CMI end-to-end packaging supply chain by executing purchasing and RFQ activities, owning demand planning and replenishment, and coordinating inbound and outbound logistics. Operating at the intersection of procurement, ordering, and freight, this role translates customer program forecasts into sourcing actions, purchase orders, and optimized freight movements that protect service levels and landed cost for CMI’s multi-unit foodservice clients. Reports to Director of Procurement.
This is a hands-on, analytical role embedded in CMI’s Operations function. The analyst works daily in Odoo 17 Enterprise alongside Excel and Smartsheet, partnering with sales/ordering, procurement, and logistics colleagues to keep packaging programs supplied on time, in full, and at competitive cost — consistent with CMI’s commitment to “Packaging Intelligence, Your Way.”
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- 1. Purchasing & RFQ Management
- • Prepare, issue, and administer RFQs and RFPs to domestic and international suppliers across packaging categories — cups, lids, bowls, bagasse, paperboard, films, and custom-printed programs.
- • Build and maintain quote-comparison and landed-cost models (unit cost, inbound freight, duty, tooling/amortization) to support sourcing award decisions.
- • Convert approved sourcing decisions into purchase orders in Odoo 17; track PO acknowledgments, lead times, and supplier ship confirmations.
- • Maintain supplier price lists and product supplier info records; flag price variances, cost-up notifications, and minimum-order/lead-time changes.
- • Monitor supplier performance (OTIF, quality, responsiveness) and support escalations such as inventory shortages, allocation, and defective-product disputes.
- • Draft and manage supplier communications related to ordering, expediting, and corrective action.
- 2. Demand Planning & Inventory
- • Develop and maintain demand forecasts by SKU and customer program using historical Odoo order data, promotional/LTO calendars, and direct customer input.
- • Calculate reorder points, safety stock, and replenishment plans that balance service levels against working capital and warehouse capacity.
- • Monitor inventory positions across CMI warehouses and 3PL partners; surface slow-moving, at-risk, excess, and potential-stockout SKUs.
- • Coordinate with sales and ordering on new program launches, item transitions, and run-out / changeover planning to minimize obsolescence.
- • Produce demand, fill-rate, and inventory-health reporting for Operations and C-suite review.
- 3. Logistics & Freight
- • Coordinate inbound freight from suppliers and outbound shipments to customers and distribution centers; select carriers and modes against established lane rates.
- • Support freight RFP and bid processes, lane-rate analysis, and carrier-negotiation preparation.
- • Track freight cost trends, fuel surcharges (FSC), routing variance, and consolidation opportunities; quantify and recommend cost-out actions.
- • Audit freight invoices, resolve billing discrepancies, and maintain accurate landed-cost inputs.
- • Partner with logistics and procurement to improve service reliability and reduce total delivered cost.
- Cross-Functional & Analytics
- • Build and maintain Excel and Smartsheet models, dashboards, and recurring reports across the source–plan–deliver cycle.
- • Deliver clear, data-driven analysis with explicit recommendations and verdicts rather than open-ended summaries.
- • Support continuous-improvement and cost-savings initiatives, and document standard operating procedures.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations, Business, or a related field — or equivalent professional experience.
- • 2–4 years of experience in supply chain, procurement, planning, purchasing, or logistics.
- • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups/XLOOKUP, multi-variable cost modeling).
- • Hands-on experience with an ERP system for purchasing, inventory, or order management.
- • Strong analytical and quantitative aptitude with high attention to detail and data accuracy.
- • Clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to coordinate across sales, procurement, and logistics.
- • Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced, customer-driven environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- • Experience in foodservice packaging, CPG, manufacturing, or distribution.
- • Working knowledge of Odoo (Purchase, Inventory, and/or Sales modules).
- • Demonstrated experience running RFQ/RFP processes and building landed-cost comparisons (including import/duty inputs).
- • Familiarity with demand-planning and forecasting methods and inventory-optimization concepts.
- • Freight and carrier-management exposure, including FSC and lane-rate analysis.
- • Proficiency with Smartsheet; exposure to Ziflow artwork-approval workflows a plus.
- • APICS / ASCM certification (CPIM, CSCP) or progress toward it.
- KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- • Analytical rigor: Translates raw transactional data into actionable sourcing, planning, and freight decisions.
- • Systems fluency: Comfortable learning and operating ERP and collaboration tools; maintains clean, reliable master data.
- • Negotiation support: Prepares fact-based positions for supplier and carrier discussions.
- • Collaboration: Builds trusted working relationships across functions and with external suppliers and carriers.
- • Ownership: Drives issues to resolution and follows through without prompting.

- Full benefits package including medical, dental, and vision coverage
- 401(k) retirement plan with company participation
- A collaborative and entrepreneurial environment
- The opportunity to play a key role in strengthening operations systems at a growing packaging and supply chain company.
