  • We are seeking an experienced Sales & Use Tax Analyst to support U.S. and Canadian indirect tax compliance, reporting, and advisory activities. This role will be responsible for managing sales and use tax filings, maintaining tax records and registrations, supporting audits, and partnering with Finance and Accounting teams to ensure compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
  • This is an excellent opportunity for a tax professional with expertise in both U.S. Sales & Use Tax and Canadian commodity taxes who enjoys a blend of compliance, analysis, and process improvement responsibilities.
  • Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and administer U.S. and Canadian sales and use tax filings through Avalara.
  • Review tax data, maintain supporting schedules, and ensure timely and accurate filing compliance.
  • Post and reconcile sales and use tax journal entries.
  • Research and resolve tax notices, discrepancies, and filing issues.
  • Maintain tax registrations and support ongoing compliance requirements.
  • Assist with month-end close activities related to indirect taxes.
  • Support tax audits and respond to information requests from tax authorities.
  • Partner with Finance and Accounting teams to improve tax processes, controls, and reporting.
  • Provide guidance on indirect tax matters affecting business operations.
  • Monitor changes in U.S. and Canadian tax regulations and assess their impact on the organization.
  • Support special projects and other tax-related initiatives as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in Sales & Use Tax, indirect tax, or commodity tax compliance.
  • Experience supporting both U.S. and Canadian indirect tax processes.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian commodity taxes, including GST/HST, PST, and QST.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. Sales & Use Tax regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
  • Preferred
  • Experience with Avalara or similar tax automation software.
  • Experience supporting multi-jurisdictional tax compliance and audits.
  • CPA or other relevant tax certification.
  • Experience working within a corporate tax department, public accounting firm, or multi-entity organization.
