Snowflake Data Architect ( Finance Semantic)

About:

The Finance Semantic & Snowflake Data Architect will define and govern the Finance semantic model that connects Snowflake data assets with Finance business meaning. The role owns the semantic model, ontology, metadata approach, data-consumption patterns, and reusable calculation patterns for MTD, QTD and YTD, including the approach for approximately 200 General Ledger measures.

The Role:

• Own the target Finance semantic architecture and define how governed Snowflake data is translated into trusted business concepts, dimensions, measures and relationships.
• Define semantic-model, ontology, taxonomy and metadata standards for Revenue, Spend, General Ledger and related Finance use cases.
• Create reusable patterns for dynamic financial calculations, including MTD, QTD, YTD, period comparisons and drill-down behaviour.
• Define the strategy, prioritisation and complexity-banding approach for approximately 200 GL measures, with clear ownership and traceability of business rules.
• Establish governed data-consumption patterns for dashboards, analytical applications, conversational experiences, Snowflake Cortex Skills and AI agents.
• Align Snowflake semantic assets with enterprise metadata and governance sources such as Collibra and System Dictionary Hub.
• Partner with Finance SMEs, Product Owners, data owners, architects, governance teams and engineering leads to validate definitions, lineage and acceptance criteria.
• Define review, approval, publication, versioning and lifecycle controls for semantic assets, ontology constructs, prompts and metadata.
• Guide data modelers and engineers on logical modelling, measure implementation, performance, data quality and reconciliation requirements.
• Provide architecture evidence and support reviews covering data, security, controls, model risk and production readiness.

Responsibilities:

• Proven years of overall experience in enterprise data architecture, data warehousing, analytics or Finance technology.
• Demonstrated experience architecting Finance data platforms and semantic layers for GL, P&L, Revenue, Spend or management-reporting domains.
• Strong experience with Snowflake architecture, advanced data modelling, semantic models and governed analytical consumption.
• Experience defining business ontologies, metadata models, lineage and data-governance operating practices.
• Proven ability to work with senior Finance, data, architecture, governance and engineering stakeholders in a regulated environment.
