GE Vernova is modernizing its forecasting capabilities to improve the accuracy, efficiency, and strategic value of its power system outlooks. This role will lead the transformation of our forecasting models, tools, and analytics workflows. The incumbent will introduce state of the art energy modeling techniques, improved data processing methods, and AI-enabled approaches to augment expert judgment and reduce manual interventions. This leader will work alongside experienced power system and energy forecasting experts, complementing deep domain expertise with advanced modeling, data science, and AI capabilities to build a next generation forecasting capability.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
Modernize legacy, spreadsheet-based, forecasting models into modular, scalable, and transparent platforms.
Reduce manual data preparation and handling through automation, more efficient data processing, standardized inputs, and AI-assisted workflows.
Improve forecast accuracy and enable scenario functionality through the development and ownership of a modern forecasting platform.
Build credibility and trust by enabling increased transparency and assumption sharing between forecasting domain experts and internal stakeholders/customers; balance model sophistication with explainability to ensure outputs remain decision-ready and trusted
Evaluate and introduce best in class energy modeling tools, programming languages, and frameworks appropriate for power system forecasting
Define data requirements, pipelines, and governance needed to support advanced forecasting
Partner with IT, digital, and analytics teams to align platforms, tools, and security requirements
Work closely with power system forecasting and policy experts to integrate domain logic into modern models; translate expert assumptions into structured, parameterized, and testable model components
Enable experts to focus on insight generation rather than manual model execution
Apply AI, advanced analytics, and quantitative methods to improve forecasting processes, generate insights more efficiently, and enhance the accuracy and consistency of market assessments
Develop automated methods for evaluating, summarizing, and synthesizing third-party reports on global power markets and industry trends affecting generation and capacity additions by technology and fuel
Maintain awareness of and develop tools & methods to evaluate potential market disruptions, emerging opportunities, and structural shifts across the power sector
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Economics, Data Science, or a related field from an accredited university or college
At least 8 years of experience in energy/power markets and forecasting
Demonstrated experience applying AI, advanced analytics, data science, or quantitative methods in market analysis, forecasting, or decision support
Experience leading, coordinating, or contributing to complex analytical, technical, or technology-enabled projects
Desired Characteristics
Demonstrated experience developing energy or power system forecast models (demand, supply mix, capacity expansion, policy scenarios, etc.)
Strong proficiency in modern analytical tools and languages (e.g., Python, R, Julia, or similar)
Experience moving analytical workflows beyond Excel into scalable modeling environments
Ability to work effectively with deep domain experts and translate between technical and economic perspectives
Strong communication skills to explain complex models and insights to senior stakeholders
Familiarity with energy policy analysis and regulatory driven forecasting
Experience with capacity expansion or power system optimization models
Prior work in energy consulting, system operators, utilities, or energy technology firms
Experience building or modernizing analytics capabilities in an enterprise setting
Experience in the power generation industry or related energy market analysis field
Passionate about using AI and emerging analytical tools to improve forecasting, productivity, and decision quality
Highly curious and inquisitive, self-directed continuous learner
Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve complex problems
Demonstrated results in a highly dynamic environment with tight time constraints
Ability to distill complex issues into simple, clear messages
Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple simultaneous projects with an appropriate sense of urgency

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $147,900.00 and $246,300.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.
Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
