Role Description The Senior Financial Analyst is a part-time remote role responsible for supporting the financial planning and analysis needs of the Mineral Processing Research Group. Day-to-day tasks include preparing and reviewing financial statements, developing budget forecasts, and monitoring research project expenditures and funding allocations. The role involves producing accurate financial reports for internal stakeholders, analyzing financial data to identify trends and risks, and supporting grant applications with financial projections and cost analysis. The Senior Financial Analyst will collaborate with researchers and administrative staff to ensure financial compliance with university policies and funding agency requirements, and to provide clear, data-driven recommendations for resource allocation.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess strong Finance and Financial Planning skills to support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic resource allocation.
Candidates should possess solid Analytical Skills to interpret complex data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights.
Candidates should possess expertise in Financial Statements and Financial Reporting to prepare, review, and present accurate financial information.
Relevant experience in academic, research, or non-profit financial management is beneficial.
Proficiency with spreadsheet and financial analysis tools (e.g., Excel, financial modeling software) is expected.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects in a remote, part-time setting.
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; an advanced degree or professional designation (e.g., CPA, CFA) is an asset.
