Role Description This part-time remote Senior Data Scientist role focuses on leveraging data to support Learn for Sudan’s educational and social impact initiatives. The Senior Data Scientist will design and implement robust data pipelines, build predictive models, and perform advanced statistical analyses to inform program strategy and decision-making. Responsibilities include cleaning and structuring diverse data sources, developing dashboards and reports for non-technical stakeholders, and translating insights into clear recommendations. The role also involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, mentoring junior contributors, and ensuring that data practices adhere to ethical standards and privacy requirements. The Senior Data Scientist will continuously evaluate and improve models, tools, and methodologies to enhance the organization’s data-driven impact.
Qualifications
Strong proficiency in data science fundamentals, including statistical analysis, machine learning, and experimental design.
Hands-on experience with data manipulation and analysis tools (e.g., Python or R, SQL) and common data science libraries.
Ability to design, build, and maintain data pipelines and workflows for diverse and imperfect data sources.
Experience creating clear visualizations and dashboards (e.g., using Tableau, Power BI, or similar tools) for a range of stakeholders.
Demonstrated skill in communicating complex technical concepts in accessible, concise language to non-technical audiences.
Background in working with social impact, education, or international development data is highly beneficial.
Familiarity with data governance, privacy, and ethical considerations in data collection and modeling.
Ability to work independently in a remote, part-time setting, manage multiple priorities, and meet agreed timelines.
Advanced degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
