- Role Description The File Manager is a part-time remote role responsible for organizing, maintaining, and optimizing digital file systems that support creative, marketing, and client project workflows. Day-to-day tasks include creating and managing folder structures, naming conventions, and metadata; ensuring that digital assets such as videos, images, documents, and project files are stored correctly and easy to locate. The role involves routinely auditing file repositories, archiving outdated materials, and coordinating with project teams to keep shared drives and asset libraries current and secure. The File Manager will also assist in documenting file management procedures, troubleshooting access issues, and collaborating with team members to improve efficiency and data integrity across platforms.
- Qualifications
- Strong skills in digital file organization, including consistent naming conventions, folder structures, and metadata tagging.
- Experience working with cloud storage solutions and shared drives (e.g., Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive) and basic understanding of version control.
- Attention to detail and accuracy when handling digital assets, with the ability to audit, archive, and clean up large volumes of files.
- Comfort with project management or collaboration tools (e.g., Asana, Trello, Slack, or similar) to coordinate file-related tasks with teams.
- Solid written communication skills for documenting processes, guidelines, and best practices in a clear, accessible way.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment, manage time effectively, and handle multiple projects with minimal supervision.
- Basic understanding of creative or marketing workflows (web, video, social media) is helpful to align file structures with project needs.
- Prior experience in digital asset management, records management, or a related role is preferred; relevant coursework or training is a plus.
