Role Description The Chief Data Officer (CDO) is a full-time, remote role responsible for defining and executing the organization’s data strategy across all learning, operational, and business functions. This role oversees data governance frameworks, ensures data quality standards, and manages data lifecycle processes to support accurate reporting and decision-making. The CDO collaborates with leadership teams to align data initiatives with institutional goals, develops policies for ethical and secure data usage, and leads efforts to improve data accessibility and literacy across the organization. Day-to-day tasks include supervising data management operations, guiding analytical and data science projects, implementing tools and platforms for data integration, and presenting insights that inform program development, learner outcomes, and organizational performance.
Qualifications
Strong proficiency in Data Governance and Data Management, with experience establishing policies, standards, and processes.
Demonstrated expertise in Data Quality, including defining quality metrics, monitoring data integrity, and driving data cleanup initiatives.
Advanced Analytical Skills and experience using data to generate insights, dashboards, and reports for strategic decision-making.
Knowledge of Data Science concepts and methods, including working with data scientists or analysts on modeling, forecasting, and optimization projects.
Experience implementing data architectures, databases, and business intelligence tools in an educational or similar setting is beneficial.
Proven leadership skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and build data-driven cultures.
Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain complex data topics to non-technical audiences.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
