Senior Cost Analyst (42756)

Our client is an organization in Sauk County looking for a Senior Cost Analyst. Our client is looking for someone with strong analytical skills, an accounting foundation, and experience in cost analysis, budgeting, and forecasting. This individual will partner with operations and finance leadership to provide meaningful financial insights, support strategic decision-making, and drive continuous improvement.

The salary range for this position is $80k–110k, depending on experience.

The Senior Cost Analyst will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analyze product, manufacturing, and operational costs to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings.
  • Prepare and maintain cost models, standard costing data, and profitability analyses.
  • Support the annual budgeting and forecasting processes by partnering with operational and finance leaders.
  • Monitor financial performance against budget and forecast, providing variance analysis and actionable recommendations.
  • Develop financial reports, dashboards, and ad hoc analyses to support business decision-making.
  • Analyze inventory, labor, overhead, and production costs to improve operational performance.
  • Partner with Accounting to ensure accurate cost accounting and financial reporting.
  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting processes, financial analysis, and operational efficiencies.
  • Assist with month-end close activities related to inventory, cost accounting, and financial analysis.
  • Support cross-functional projects, system enhancements, and strategic initiatives as assigned.
  • Present financial findings and recommendations to leadership in a clear and concise manner.

The Senior Cost Analyst will possess the following:

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • 3–10+ years of progressive experience in cost accounting, cost analysis, financial planning & analysis (FP&A), budgeting, forecasting, or a related finance role.
  • Cost accounting or cost analyst experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong accounting foundation with experience supporting budgeting and forecasting activities.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret large data sets and provide meaningful business insights.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with ERP systems and financial reporting tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to collaborate across finance and operations.
  • Self-motivated professional with a continuous improvement mindset and a passion for using data to drive business decisions.
