The ideal candidate will possess a strong analytical mindset, advanced technical skills, and the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights. This role demands resilience, professionalism, and adaptability, as it involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, supporting strategic initiatives, and leveraging emerging AI technologies to enhance operational efficiency. The Senior Business Analyst will serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, helping to identify opportunities, mitigate risks, and drive data-informed decisions that benefit Medicaid enrollees and healthcare providers alike.

Candidates should possess advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, complex formulas, macros, and data modeling. A working knowledge of SQL and ETL processes is essential for effective data extraction and transformation. Familiarity with AI-powered tools such as ChatGPT, Copilot, or Claude, and AI-driven analytics features in platforms like Power BI, is highly desirable, with a strong willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies. The successful applicant will have experience analyzing data, developing reports, and providing strategic recommendations based on insights. Excellent presentation skills are required to communicate findings clearly to senior leadership and diverse teams. The ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-pressure environments, maintain professionalism, and handle ambiguity with resilience is critical. Prior experience with MAS software and building professional relationships at all organizational levels is preferred. A bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, analytics, or a related field is required; equivalent experience in business research and analytics may be considered in lieu of a degree. This role may require occasional travel for in-person meetings, primarily in the Syracuse area.
Responsibilities
The Senior Business Analyst will be responsible for conducting research and analysis focused on MAS management of the NYS Medicaid program, providing insights that support program optimization and strategic decision-making. Managing special projects that require multidisciplinary knowledge of MAS, including understanding Medicaid transportation concerns of enrollees, providers, and the NY State Department of Health, will be a key aspect of the role. Supporting organizational development initiatives such as Medicaid program improvements, cost structure analysis, policy support, and budget planning will also be part of the responsibilities. The analyst will develop and enforce standards for data collection and analysis across various tools and platforms, including Smartsheets, Microsoft Power BI, MAS systems, and other Microsoft tools. Collaborating with the Financial Analytics team and department leadership to deliver strategic insights, as well as partnering with IT to enhance data integration, governance, and reporting capabilities, are essential duties. Staying informed about industry developments, including new competitors and trends in the non-emergency medical transportation sector, will help guide strategic alliances and innovation efforts. The role also involves leveraging AI tools and technologies to automate workflows, improve analysis accuracy, and increase operational efficiency. Presenting findings, insights, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership and cross-functional teams will be a regular part of the job. Other duties may include supporting continuous improvement initiatives, assisting in policy formulation, and contributing to the organization’s data-driven culture.
