This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced governance professional to help shape the future of ethical biomedical research and responsible data sharing. Working at the intersection of research governance, privacy, compliance, and emerging technologies, you will lead initiatives that support secure, transparent, and impactful scientific collaboration. The role offers broad exposure to research communities, institutional partners, and multidisciplinary teams while driving governance frameworks that protect sensitive human data. You will contribute to innovative projects involving AI, data stewardship, and regulatory compliance, helping ensure that research practices remain both effective and ethically sound. Accountabilities

  • Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of governance frameworks supporting biomedical research, scientific collaborations, and responsible data sharing initiatives.
  • Develop policies, standards, and procedures that ensure compliance with ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements governing human subject research and sensitive data.
  • Partner with research consortia, institutional collaborators, and internal stakeholders to establish governance structures that promote transparency, accountability, and participant protection.
  • Oversee data governance initiatives by assessing data sensitivity, defining access controls, and supporting secure and compliant data-sharing practices.
  • Monitor compliance activities, contribute to incident investigations, support corrective and preventive action plans, and provide reporting to key stakeholders.
  • Evaluate the impact of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, on research governance and compliance practices while promoting responsible adoption.
  • Lead the development of training materials, educational programs, and governance documentation to strengthen organizational knowledge and operational consistency.
  • Negotiate and support data-sharing agreements, institutional partnerships, and governance-related processes that facilitate scientific collaboration while protecting organizational and participant interests.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor on privacy, compliance, research integrity, and governance-related matters.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Public Health, Public Administration, Social Sciences, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of professional experience working with human biomedical research data in academic, healthcare, pharmaceutical, nonprofit, or related research environments.
  • Strong expertise in human subjects research regulations, Institutional Review Board (IRB) processes, HIPAA requirements, privacy regulations, and research compliance frameworks.
  • Experience reviewing, developing, or negotiating data-sharing agreements and other governance-related legal or regulatory documentation.
  • Demonstrated success designing governance frameworks, developing standard operating procedures, and improving operational processes.
  • Knowledge of data stewardship principles, ethical research practices, and FAIR data-sharing concepts.
  • Familiarity with compliance monitoring, incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive action planning.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage scientific, technical, regulatory, and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience working across interdisciplinary teams and navigating evolving regulatory landscapes.
  • Interest in emerging technologies, including AI and machine learning, and their implications for biomedical research governance.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, adaptability, and proficiency with documentation and project management tools.
