Job Description

Position Summary and Purpose

The Risk Analyst is responsible for promoting an environment of risk awareness and risk reduction. Direct facility risk awareness and risk reduction program, including loss prevention and loss control measures, analysis of trending concerns, risk reduction education; Assistance in development and education of facility safety and risk management policies and procedures; Responsible for reviewing and investigating risk incidents and creating reports and timelines as assigned. Actively facilitate and lead related incident follow-up meetings including but not limited to Root Cause Analyses and Performance Improvement meeting.

Essential Functions

  • Programs and strategies to minimize, transfer or eliminate risk exposures, to include financial impact when risks occur.
  • Must demonstrate ability to review medical record and identify pertinent issues.
  • Must show attention to detail in order to be accurate and possess good oral and written verbal communication skills.
  • Responsible for review of all events entered to the online incident reporting system. Collaborates with the Risk Manager and other leaders in investigation of these reports including planning and participating in Performance Improvement and Root Cause Analyses.
  • Develops, presents, and evaluates educational programs relating to risk management theory, current issues, and incident prevention.
  • Must be able to analyze data provided as part of the incident reporting system to identify trends and collaborate with unit leadership to address trends identified.
  • Participates in investigation of sentinel events and the root cause analysis process.
  • Serves as a resource to physicians, administrators, nursing personnel and other hospital and physician practice personnel.
  • Participates in developing and interpreting appropriate risk management policies, procedures, and techniques.
  • Attends educational programs, training sessions as assigned relating to essential job functions.
  • Support and encourage error reporting throughout the organization and support the development of a Just Culture.
  • Greets and coordinates outside agency survey visits.
  • Attends and participates in departmental meetings as assigned.
  • Assists in completion of risk investigations, FMEA, and Root Cause Analysis as assigned.
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies, procedures, and standards of conduct.
  • Comply with HIPAA privacy and security requirements to always maintain confidentiality.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Other Functions

  • Participates in various other special projects related to protecting the Hospital against liability claims.
  • Participates in developing and interpreting appropriate risk management policies, procedures, and techniques.
  • Active member of the Patient Safety Committee as well as other committees as assigned by the Risk Manager.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

(Education, Experience, Licensure and Certification)

Education

Bachelor’s degree in related field (required).

Experience

  • 2 years of patient care experience in a hospital setting (required)
  • 1 or more years in behavioral health (preferred)

Licensure:/Certification:

CPHRM preferred.

Preferred Healthcare Provider/Basic Life Support and Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training and to perform as required.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
