About ETR

Enterprise Technology Research (ETR), a subsidiary of the Futurum Group, is an independent research firm built on primary data. We draw on a network of 9,000+ technology decision-makers, controlling more than $2 trillion in annual IT spend, to track where technology budgets are heading. More than 100 of the world's largest hedge funds and asset managers use our proprietary data and research to shape their investment decisions.

  • ETR's flagship Technology Spending Intentions Survey (TSIS) is one of the longest-running and broadest data series in the industry, with uninterrupted coverage since 2010 spanning 330+ vendors across more than 20 technology sectors. We complement it with higher-frequency research: the AI Product Series, ETR Edge, Macro Views, and drill-down surveys on the topics investors are debating right now.
  • ETR has the pace of an early-stage company and client relationships that go back more than a decade. We are investing in our research capabilities: growing the team, deepening our product suite, and expanding coverage into new layers of the technology stack.

About the Role

  • ETR is hiring a Research Analyst to build coverage of the cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, and application software sectors. You will extract the signal from our proprietary data and turn it into vendor notes and thematic research addressing the key debates investors are facing.
  • This is a high-visibility role for someone with 2+ years of buy-side or sell-side equity research experience. You have a passion for public markets and investing. You follow companies through earnings, understand the debates driving share prices, and are developing differentiated views you can defend with evidence. On a small team, your coverage and your voice will carry real weight. This is a remote-friendly position open to candidates anywhere in the US.

What You Will Do

  • Follow vendors through survey cycles and earnings seasons and carry each note from first draft to published research.
  • Analyze ETR’s proprietary survey data, both quantitative and qualitative, to identify shifts in spending intentions across vendors, sectors, and themes such as cloud, information security, and GenAI.
  • Write to the debate: frame research notes around investment controversies and defend our data-backed positions.
  • Present findings on webinars and client calls, becoming a trusted resource for the research teams, portfolio managers, and equity analysts who use ETR every day.
  • Partner with account management and sales to respond to client research requests and shape topical research projects around what clients need most.
  • Collaborate with our data and product teams to develop new research offerings and improve how insights are delivered across multiple channels (e.g., research notes, MCP/AI integrations, and the ETR Platform).

What We Are Looking For

  • 2+ years in buy-side or sell-side equity research, or comparable experience in another rigorous analytical role.
  • Fluency in public and private markets: you follow the technology sector closely, know the key investor debates, and are comfortable with financial statement analysis.
  • Working knowledge of the enterprise technology landscape (software, cloud, security, infrastructure) and curiosity about where it is heading.
  • Strong analytical writing: you can move from a dataset to a clear, well-structured note with a defensible point of view.
  • Highly self-motivated and detail-oriented, with a high bar for the quality of your work.
  • An AI-native approach: you are comfortable with quantitative data, traditional tools such as Excel, and AI tools such as Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor. SQL or Python skills are a plus.
  • A bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, statistics, a STEM field, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience. Progress in the CFA® Program is a plus.

What We Offer

  • • A competitive compensation package including base salary, comprehensive benefits, and the opportunity for a bonus.
  • • The opportunity to have a meaningful impact from day one: on a team our size, your work is visible to clients and leadership.
  • • Direct mentorship from our senior Research, Sales, and Data teams: you work together day to day, and your development and advancement are part of the role's design.
  • • Direct exposure to some of the world's most sophisticated investors and the technology leaders shaping enterprise IT.
  • • A remote-friendly, flexible working environment with a culture that values candor, curiosity, and collegiality over facetime and politics.
