We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for advanced Excel professionals with hands-on manufacturing experience across production planning, bill-of-materials modeling, inventory analysis, OEE and throughput tracking, cost-of-goods modeling, supply and demand forecasting, dashboards, and spreadsheet automation.

This role supports current and upcoming remote consulting opportunities focused on manufacturing Excel task design, spreadsheet-based analytical reasoning, realistic domain task creation, reference solution development, task review, and high-quality project execution. Selected professionals will apply their advanced Excel expertise and real-world manufacturing experience to design, solve, and evaluate realistic spreadsheet tasks.

Manufacturing Excel Task Design

  • Design realistic Excel-based tasks drawn from manufacturing experience
  • Create tasks involving production planning, bill-of-materials analysis, inventory modeling, OEE tracking, throughput analysis, cost-of-goods modeling, supply forecasting, or demand forecasting
  • Use real-world judgment to make tasks practical, relevant, and aligned with how manufacturing professionals use spreadsheets
  • Ensure tasks are clear, well-structured, and appropriate for spreadsheet-based evaluation

Advanced Excel Modeling & Reference Solutions

  • Write accurate, well-structured solutions for Excel-based manufacturing tasks
  • Use advanced formulas, XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, dynamic arrays, PivotTables, data modeling, dashboards, Power Query, Power Pivot, and macros/VBA where appropriate
  • Review workbook logic, assumptions, formulas, calculations, and outputs
  • Create reference solutions that are clean, reproducible, and easy to evaluate

Spreadsheet Review & Feedback

  • Evaluate Excel tasks and solutions for correctness, clarity, usability, and analytical rigor
  • Provide clear written feedback that improves task quality and solution accuracy
  • Collaborate with other subject-matter experts to maintain consistency and accuracy across submitted materials
  • Translate manufacturing scenarios into precise spreadsheet instructions and expected outputs

Ideal Profile

Strong candidates may have:

  • Demonstrated advanced, professional-level Excel expertise
  • Hands-on professional experience applying Excel within manufacturing, production planning, supply chain, inventory, costing, quality tracking, or plant-level reporting contexts
  • Experience building dashboards, models, reports, trackers, templates, or analytical workbooks
  • Career progression within manufacturing, production, supply chain, planning, finance, analytics, or related roles
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to explain spreadsheet logic clearly
  • Reliable weekday availability for at least 20 hours per week depending on project scope
  • Current location in the United States

Educational Background

  • Academic backgrounds in manufacturing, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, supply chain, business administration, finance, accounting, data analysis, or related fields may be relevant
  • Professional experience using Excel for manufacturing planning, inventory, costing, reporting, or forecasting may be especially valuable
  • Equivalent hands-on spreadsheet and manufacturing experience may be considered depending on project needs

Nice to Have

  • Experience with production schedules, BOMs, inventory models, ERP/MRP exports, cost models, quality metrics, SKU-level analysis, or capacity planning workbooks
  • Familiarity with OEE, throughput, scrap rates, cycle times, lead times, yield analysis, demand planning, or supply planning
  • Experience using Power Query, Power Pivot, macros, VBA, or spreadsheet automation
  • Experience creating templates, trackers, reconciliation tools, dashboards, or recurring management reports
  • Strong ability to turn real manufacturing scenarios into clear Excel tasks and evaluation rubrics
