Position Overview

Intuitive Machines - West is seeking a versatile Quality Engineer to serve as a multi-faceted contributor across data analytics, AI integration, production quality support, and knowledge transfer initiatives. This hybrid role combines hands-on production quality engineering with strategic technology implementation, creating a unique opportunity to impact both daily operations and long-term organizational capabilities. The ideal candidate will split their time between production floor activities (25%) and technology/analytics initiatives (75%), while serving as a go-to resource for quality engineering analysis and AI adoption.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and analytics that improve visibility into quality and manufacturing performance.
  • Analyze quality data to identify trends, recurring issues, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Evaluate and implement AI solutions to improve Quality Engineering processes, reporting, and decision-making.
  • Develop AI workflows, prompts, and automation solutions that enhance engineering productivity.
  • Support production quality activities, including investigations, corrective actions, and nonconformance management.
  • Partner with Manufacturing, Engineering, IT, and Operations to solve quality and process challenges.
  • Build and maintain documentation, standards, and training materials for AI and analytics tools.
  • Provide technical analysis and data-driven recommendations to Quality Engineering leadership.
  • Lead or support continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, and digital transformation.
  • Stay current on emerging technologies and recommend innovative solutions that advance the Quality Management System.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
  • Bachelor's degree program in Industrial Engineering, Quality Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, Manufacturing Engineering, or related discipline

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with Power BI dashboard development and data visualization
  • Proven experience applying AI/LLM tools (Claude, ChatGPT, etc.) to real-world data analysis problems
  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, or similar languages for data manipulation and API integration
  • Understanding of prompt engineering and AI workflow design
  • Foundation in statistical analysis and quality engineering principles (Pareto analysis, control charts, SPC)
  • Experience with data wrangling, ETL processes, and data integration challenges
  • Direct experience with Claude AI (Anthropic) or similar large language models
  • Exposure to manufacturing or aerospace production environments
  • Understanding of quality management systems (AS9100, ISO 9001)
  • Lean Six Sigma certification (Yellow Belt or higher) or coursework
  • Experience building data pipelines or integrations between modern and legacy systems
  • Familiarity with API integration and automation tools
  • Strong communication skills to present technical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Passion for the space industry and spacecraft manufacturing

In support of pay transparency at Lanteris Space Systems, we disclose salary ranges on all U.S. job postings. The successful candidate’s starting pay will fall within the salary range provided below and is determined based on job-related factors, including, but not limited to, the experience, qualifications, knowledge, skills, geographic work location, and market conditions. Candidates with the minimum necessary experience, qualifications, knowledge, and skillsets for the position should not expect to receive the upper end of the pay range.

The base pay for this position within California is: $67,000.00 - $111,000.00 annually.

For all other states, we use geographic cost of labor as an input to develop market-driven ranges for our roles, and as such, each location where we hire may have a different range.
