MatchBox is urgently seeking a QA Analyst Cybersecurity specialist for a 6 month contract opportunity for our New Westminster based public sector client. This is a hybrid position where candidates must be located in the lower mainland.

Quality Assurance Analyst (Contract)

Project Description & Background

The organization is undergoing a significant digital transformation to support innovation, growth, and operational resilience. Given the increasing frequency and sophistication of cyber threats, there is a strategic focus on modernizing cybersecurity capabilities, strengthening IT resiliency, and enabling secure transformation initiatives.

A cybersecurity vision, strategy, and roadmap of improvement initiatives have been established to guide this transformation.

The Quality Assurance Analyst (Contractor) will work closely with the Quality Assurance Lead, Cybersecurity Program Manager, Cybersecurity & Resiliency team, Enterprise Architecture team, and other technical stakeholders across the technology organization.

The successful candidate will possess strong experience in quality assurance testing for large and complex IT projects, including implementation and support of enterprise Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS), on-premises, and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) applications. Experience supporting infrastructure and cybersecurity-related projects is highly desirable. Responsibilities include assessing, reviewing, updating, evaluating, and validating testing activities throughout all stages of project and program planning and implementation.

Scope of Services

Responsibilities

Reporting to the designated Manager within the Technology Services division, the QA Analyst will provide Quality Assurance and Testing services, including but not limited to the following:

  • Execute functional and non-functional testing of cybersecurity applications, including SaaS and internally managed solutions.
  • Perform API testing to validate functionality, reliability, and performance of RESTful APIs and SOAP web services.
  • Conduct data validation testing using SQL queries against application back-end systems and databases.
  • Review project documentation, business requirements, functional specifications, and user stories to understand objectives and expected outcomes.
  • Collaborate with vendors, implementation partners, product owners, cybersecurity teams, and stakeholders to develop QA strategies and test plans.
  • Design, develop, and execute Test Plans, Test Cases, Test Scenarios, and Test Scripts, including automated tests for:
  • System Integration Testing (SIT)
  • Functional Testing
  • Regression Testing
  • Performance Testing
  • User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
  • Identify project risks and contribute to mitigation planning for technical, schedule, and delivery risks.
  • Prepare test data and configure test environments as required.
  • Coordinate and monitor User Acceptance Testing activities.
  • Develop and maintain defect and issue logs.
  • Track defects through submission, review, triage, resolution, and closure processes.
  • Facilitate defect triage sessions and support issue resolution activities.
  • Monitor and oversee resolution of testing-related issues and defects.
  • Provide regular and ad hoc QA status reporting to project and program stakeholders.
  • Organize testing workshops, meetings, and test execution sessions.
  • Support User Acceptance Testing and end-user validation activities.
  • Participate in user feedback sessions, knowledge transfer initiatives, and training activities as required.
  • Adhere to established project delivery and testing methodologies.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, including daily stand-ups.
  • Perform additional project-related duties as assigned by the Team Lead or Manager.
  • Deliverables

The QA Analyst will be responsible for producing standard QA documentation and deliverables, including but not limited to:

  • QA Strategy, Approach, and Test Plan documentation.
  • Test Plans, Test Cases, Test Scenarios, and Test Scripts for:
  • Integration Testing
  • Functional Testing
  • Regression Testing
  • User Acceptance Testing
  • Defect and Issue Logs.
  • Test Summary Reports detailing:
  • Test execution results
  • Test coverage
  • Defects identified
  • Quality metrics
  • Automated Test Scripts.
  • QA Status Reports.
  • Supporting documentation and work products related to project testing activities.
  • Final QA Sign-Off documentation confirming system or product readiness for deployment.
  • Qualifications & Experience

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of recent hands-on experience in application testing and quality assurance.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting large-scale and complex IT initiatives involving enterprise COTS, on-premises, and SaaS solutions.
  • Strong understanding of QA methodologies, software testing principles, and quality management best practices.
  • Proven ability to engage stakeholders across multiple business and technical functions and organizational levels.
  • Experience building effective working relationships with end-users, technical teams, management, and executive stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and root-cause analysis skills.
  • Experience developing comprehensive test cases, scripts, and test documentation.
  • In-depth understanding of Agile and DevOps delivery methodologies and QA practices.
  • Experience testing enterprise applications such as:
  • ERP Systems
  • Financial Systems
  • Human Resources Systems
  • Customer Service Management (CSM) Platforms
  • Asset Management Systems
  • Process-oriented mindset with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to translate technical and process-related issues into business-friendly language.
  • Strong documentation, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Excellent facilitation and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including business and technical report writing.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience testing CyberArk platforms.
  • Knowledge of:
  • Active Directory (AD)
  • Microsoft Entra ID
  • Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
  • Privileged Session Management
  • Key Vaulting Technologies
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, test automation tools, and SharePoint.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity concepts, controls, and security testing practices.
  • Experience working within unionized environments is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage AI-enabled tools and resources to improve QA efficiency, test coverage, and overall testing effectiveness.
