Job Description:

Department Overview:

The Commercial Mortgage Group (“CMG”) is an industry leader in the Canadian Commercial/ Multi-Unit Residential (MUR) mortgage market. CMG supports existing Business Banking / TD Securities / TD Canada Trust client base providing a commercial mortgage product that is competitive within the Canadian marketplace. Our goal is to deliver a commercial mortgage product at all times and in all market conditions, subject to assets, structure and other risk parameters being acceptable.

The CMG Commercial Senior Analyst (SA) reports to a, Associate Vice President (AVP) or a Manager Mortgage Credit (MMC) and the SA position level is differentiated by the complexity and size of portfolio relationships.

Job Description:

The CMG Commercial Senior Analyst is responsible for managing an assigned portfolio of Commercial mortgage (Retail/Office/Industrial….etc) customers primarily originated in a CBC or as a direct relationship. The SA demonstrates sound credit knowledge, Commercial mortgage product expertise and has analytical, negotiating, problem solving, multi-tasking and organizational skills. The SA focuses on risk management including in-depth mortgage analysis, deal structure, monitoring and control and overall portfolio management. Supporting growth objectives, the SA works closely with CMG Originators and CBC's, to underwrite new Commercial mortgages opportunities and maximize retention of existing client relationships. The SA is a Commercial mortgage product specialist and effectively communicates with customers, internal contacts and external referral sources.

Job Requirements:

The incumbent will be accountable for the following:

  • Support CMG business growth goals by assisting CMG Originators and CBC's in obtaining new business through structuring new deals and preparing competitive credit submissions in a timely manner.
  • Support CMG and individual retention goals by proactively managing term renewals and expanding opportunities with existing clients.
  • Contribute to CMG Economic Profit goals by supporting growth in new loan volumes and meeting retention and loan fee targets.
  • Assist with developing and implementing continuous process improvement to maximize results while ensuring effective risk assessment and management.

Other Qualifications/Skills/Experience:

  • The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker, motivated to achieve results in a high volume environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to successfully manage multiple key strategic initiatives simultaneously.
  • Successful candidates will be results-driven and possess excellent verbal and written communication skill.
  • A combination of Commercial Banking, credit risk management, operations and portfolio management skills would be considered assets.
